The expectation that there is a relationship between the teaching of history and the development of theoretical thinking , this study aimed to examine this relationship with the collaboration of two teachers who teach in the fourth year of elementary school in a public school in the city of Mossley - RN . Sues the theoretical and methodological contributions are identified with the history Dialectical Materialism . The methodological approach was collaborative research . Was based on studies of Vygotsky ( 1998, 2001 ) , Rubinstein (1965 , 1973) , Ibiapina (2007 , 2008) , Afanassiev (1985 ) , Goes (2003 ) , Ferreira and Ibiapina (2005 , 2006, 2007 ) , Davydov (1981 ) , Glenisson (1991 ) among others . The methodological procedures consisted of : meetings , questionnaire , interview , cycles of reflective studies , reports of experiences and reflective session. For data analysis , we used the methodology of conceptual elaboration , proposed by Ferreira (2009 ) and the shares of reflection proposed by Magalh��es (2000 ) . Data analysis indicates the predominance of empirical thinking of collaborating both with regard to the process of design and ( re ) development of the concepts of history and theoretical thinking on the relationship between history teaching and the development of theoretical thought . However , we see the beginning of the start of the change process in thinking the teaching of history

Why language matters: insights and challenges in applying a social determination of health approach in a North-South collaborative research program

Focus on ���social determinants of health��� provides a welcome alternative to the bio-medical illness paradigm. However, the tendency to concentrate on the influence of ���risk factors��� related to living and working conditions of individuals, rather than to more broadly examine dynamics of the social processes that affect population health, has triggered critical reaction not only from the Global North but especially from voices the Global South where there is a long history of addressing questions of health equity. In this article, we elaborate on how focusing instead on the language of ���social determination of health��� has prompted us to attempt to apply a more equity-sensitive approaches to research and related policy and praxis.

Does absorptive capacity determine collaborative research returns to innovation? A geographical dimension

This paper aims to estimate the impact of research collaboration with partners in different geographical areas on innovative performance. By using the Spanish Technological Innovation Panel, this study provides evidence that the benefits of research collaboration differ across different dimensions of the geography. We find that the impact of extra-European cooperation on innovation performance is larger than that of national and European cooperation, indicating that firms tend to benefit more from interaction with international partners as a way to access new technologies or specialized and novel knowledge that they are unable to find locally. We also find evidence of the positive role played by absorptive capacity, concluding that it implies a higher premium on the innovation returns to cooperation in the international case and mainly in the European one.

Leadership and its impact on the success of Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council funded collaborative research projects

This dissertation investigates the practice of leadership in collaboratively designed and funded research in a university setting. More specifically, this research explores the meaning of leadership as experienced by researchers who were, or still are, engaged on Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded collaborative research projects in a university setting. This qualitative study (Gay & Airasian, 2003) is situated within a social constructivist paradigm (Kezar, Carducci, & Contreras-McGavin, 2006) and involves an analysis of the responses from 12 researchers who answered 11questions related to my overarching research question: What is the impact of leadership on university based collaborative research projects funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council based on the experiences of researchers involved? The data that emerged supported and enhanced the existing literature related to leadership and collaborative groups in academia. The type of preferred leadership that emerged as a result of this research seemed to indicate that the type of leader that appeared to be optimal in this context might be described as a functional collaborative expert.
