Annotated record of the detailed examination of Mn deposits from DSDP Site 156, Leg 16 (Core 16-156-1)

This site was accidentally spudded on a small basement pinnacle and was abandoned when hard rock was reached within a few meters from the surface. The section penetrated consisted of coarse winnowed calcareous sand over thin chalk ooze resting on a hard crust of ferromanganese oxide presumably covering basalt.

Buried manganese nodules or encrustations were encountered at five drill sites of Leg 16. Surface nodules were also sampled at two sites. With few exceptions, nodules within any one drill hole are fairly uniform in composition and are similar in composition to samples obtained previously from the eastern equatorial Pacific. Geochemical and paleontological evidence suggests that at least one of the buried samples was in situ when found and that at least one other was not. The remaining nodules may have fallen from the sediment surface to the positions in which they were found during the drilling process.

Informações sobre a quantidade de artigos de textos constitucionais em outros países. O Deputado Bernardo Cabral (PMDB-AM) esclarece que a maioria dos países dispõe de Constituição com poucos artigos, sendo o restante tratado em Lei Ordinária. Análise da quantidade de artigos que tiveram as Constituições brasileiras: 179 artigos tinha a Constituição do Império; 91 artigos a da Primeira República; 187 artigos as Constituições de 1934 e de 1937; 218 artigos a de 1946; 217 artigos a de 1967. O projeto atual de Constituição, com 501 artigos, pode virar "um catálogo telefônico" na opinião de alguns políticos. O Deputado Adroaldo Streck (PDT-RS) afirma que há muita coisa no texto que é matéria de Lei Ordinária, não precisa entrar no texto constitucional. O Deputado Bernardo Cabral (PMDB-AM) defende que o texto da Constituição seja sintético, com no máximo 200 artigos.

Comparison of the portion size and frequency of consumption of 156 foods across seven European countries: insights from the Food4ME study

There are no standardised serving/portion sizes defined for foods consumed in the European Union (EU). Typical serving sizes can deviate significantly from the 100 g/100 ml labelling specification required by the EU legislation. Where the nutritional value of a portion is specified, the portion size is determined by the manufacturers. Our objective was to investigate the potential for standardising portion sizes for specific foods, thereby ensuring complementarity across countries. We compared portion size for 156 food items measured using a food frequency questionnaire across the seven countries participating in the Food4me study. The probability of consuming a food and the frequency of consumption differed across countries for 93% and 58% of the foods, respectively. However, the individual country mean portion size differed from the average across countries in only 16% of comparisons. Thus, although dietary choices vary markedly across countries, there is much less variation in portion sizes. Our results highlight the potential for standardisation of portion sizes on nutrition labels in the EU
