Second Welland Canal - Book 2, Survey Map 1 - Locks 5, 6 and 7 in Grantham

Survey map of the Second Welland Canal created by the Welland Canal Company showing the Grantham Township just southeast of the Town of St. Catharines. Identified structures associated with the Canal include Locks 5, 6, and 7, two Lock House Lots, Small Lock House, waste weir, and the towing path. The surveyors' measurements and notes can be seen in red and black ink and pencil. Local area landmarks are also identified and include roads (ex. Road to Thorold), Dicks Creek, R. Collier's Saw Mill, a gate yard, paper mill, grist mill, store house, and a barn. Properties and property owners of note are: Concession 7 Lots 13, 14, and 15, R. Collier, Orson Phelps, and a Mill Lot leased to Richard Collier.

7,7-dimetoxi-1,4,5,6-tetraclorobiciclo[2.2.1]heptan-5-en-2-endo-ol : um vers��til reagente na s��ntese de 1,3-amino��lcoois e de ciclopentan��ides quirais altamente funcionalizados

Este trabalho relata a s��ntese de uma s��rie de novos ligantes quirais (+) e (-)-syn-1,3-amino��lcoois derivados do norbornano. Atrav��s da rea����o de transesterifica����o enzim��tica com a l��pase da Candida rugosa em acetato de vinila do ��lcool rac��mico 7,7-dimetoxi-1,4,5,6-tetraclorobiciclo[2.2.1]heptan-5-en-2-ol, (��)-3, foram obtidos os ��lcoois quirais (+)-3 e (-)-3 (Esquema 1). Atrav��s da rea����o de redu����o e desclora����o destes ��lcoois com Na0/NH3/etanol foram obtidos os respectivos ��lcoois (+)-4 e (-)-4 (Esquema 2). Os ��lcoois quirais (+)-4 e (-)-4 foram utilizados como produtos de partida para a s��ntese dos 1,3-amino��lcoois quirais (+)-9 e (-)-9 em 5 etapas. Deste modo, a partir destes amino��lcoois (9), foi poss��vel sintetizar 12 novos compostos (Esquema 2), todos in��tidos na literatura. Os 1,3-amino��lcoois 10, 11, 13, 14 e 15 foram empregados como catalisadores quirais na adi����o enantiosseletiva de ZnEt2 ao benzalde��do. Excelentes rendimentos e excessos enantiom��ricos (at�� 91%) foram obtidos. A rela����o entre a configura����o absoluta do 1-fenilpropanol com a configura����o do carbono ligado ao grupo hidroxila dos ligantes foi estudada e, de acordo, com a enantiosseletividade observada foi sugerido um mecanismo para a rea����o Os produtos com esqueleto ciclopentila s��o importantes compostos com potencial atividade biol��gica, fazendo parte da estrutura de prostaglandinas, agentes antitumorais e inibidores da glicosidase. Portanto, n��s decidimos usar o acetato clorado quiral 2 para preparar ciclopentan��ides quirais altamente funcionalizados. Para isso, o acetato clorado quiral 2 foi submetido �� oxida����o usando uma quantidade catal��tica de RuCl3 anidro na presen��a de NaIO4 obtendo-se a dicetona 16 (Esquema 3). A dicetona 16 foi clivada com H2O2 em meio alcalino fornecendo os di��cidos 17a e 17b, que foram esterificados in situ com excesso de CH2N2 para fornecer uma mistura do hidroxi e acetoxi di��ster 18 e 19, respectivamente. A redu����o da mistura 18 e 19 ou da mistura 17a e 17b com BH3.THF fornece a lactona 20 com excelentes rendimentos.

Direct MR arthrography at 1.5 and 3.0 T: signal dependence on gadolinium and iodine concentrations--phantom study

PURPOSE: To prospectively quantify in vitro the influence of gadopentetate dimeglumine and ioversol on the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging signal observed with a variety of musculoskeletal pulse sequences to predict optimum gadolinium concentrations for direct MR arthrography at 1.5 and 3.0 T. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In an in vitro study, T1 and T2 relaxation times of three dilution series of gadopentetate dimeglumine (concentration, 0-20.0 mmol gadolinium per liter) at ioversol concentrations with iodine concentration of 0, 236.4, and 1182 mmol iodine per liter (corresponding to 0, 30, and 150 mg of iodine per milliliter) were measured at 1.5 and 3.0 T. The relaxation rate dependence on concentrations of gadolinium and iodine was analytically modeled, and continuous profiles of signal versus gadolinium concentration were calculated for 10 pulse sequences used in current musculoskeletal imaging. After fitting to experimental discrete profiles, maximum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), gadolinium concentration with maximum SNR, and range of gadolinium concentration with 90% of maximum SNR were derived. The overall influence of field strength and iodine concentration on these parameters was assessed by using t tests. The deviation of simulated from experimental signal-response profiles was assessed with the autocorrelation of the residuals. RESULTS: The model reproduced relaxation rates of 0.37-38.24 sec(-1), with a mean error of 4.5%. Calculated SNR profiles matched the discrete experimental profiles, with autocorrelation of the residuals divided by the mean of less than 5.0. Admixture of ioversol consistently reduced T1 and T2, narrowed optimum gadolinium concentration ranges (P = .004-.006), and reduced maximum SNR (P < .001 to not significant). Optimum gadolinium concentration was 0.7-3.4 mmol/L at both field strengths. At 3.0 T, maximum SNR was up to 75% higher than at 1.5 T. CONCLUSION: Admixture of ioversol to gadopentetate dimeglumine solutions results in a consistent additional relaxation enhancement, which can be analytically modeled to allow a near-quantitative a priori optimized match of contrast media concentrations and imaging protocol for a broad variety of pulse sequences.

Measurement of the inclusive jet cross-section in proton--proton collisions at s���=7 TeV using 4.5 fb���1 of data with the ATLAS detector

The inclusive jet cross-section is measured in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb���1 collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2011. Jets are identified using the anti-kt algorithm with radius parameter values of 0.4 and 0.6. The double-differential cross-sections are presented as a function of the jet transverse momentum and the jet rapidity, covering jet transverse momenta from 100 GeV to 2 TeV. Next-to-leading-order QCD calculations corrected for non-perturbative effects and electroweak effects, as well as Monte Carlo simulations with next-to-leading-order matrix elements interfaced to parton showering, are compared to the measured cross-sections. A quantitative comparison of the measured cross-sections to the QCD calculations using several sets of parton distribution functions is performed.

Erratum to: Measurement of the inclusive jet cross-section in proton-proton collisions at s���=7 TeV using 4.5 fb���1 of data with the ATLAS detector

It was found that the non-perturbative corrections calculated using Pythia with the Perugia 2011 tune did not include the effect of the underlying event. The affected correction factors were recomputed using the Pythia 6.427 generator. These corrections are applied as baseline to the NLO pQCD calculations and thus the central values of the theoretical predictions have changed by a few percent with the new corrections. This has a minor impact on the agreement between the data and the theoretical predictions. Figures 2 and 6 to 13, and all the tables have been updated with the new values. A few sentences in the discussion in sections 5.2 and 9 were altered or removed.
