Estudos sôbre nematóides Filarídeos: genótipo de Dipetalonema Diesing, 1861; valor dos gêneros Acanthocheilonema Cobbold, 1870 e Breinlia Yorke & Maplestone, 1926

The author divides the article in thee parts. In the first part he studies the literature on the genotype of Dipetalonema DIESING, 1861 - D. caudispina (MOLIN, 1858), and gives a new generic diagnosis of the Diesing's genus, based upon its type species. In the second one he studies the literature on the validity of Acanthocheilonema COBBOLD, 1870, and, comparing both generic defvinition and type-species description of Acanthocheilonema dracunculoides COBBOLD, 1870 and Dipetalonema caudispina (MOLIN, 1858), concludes that Cobbold's genus Acanthocheilonema must be, definitely, considered as a synonym of Dipetalonema DIESING, 1861. In the third part a comparative study, based on the literature, is made between generic definitions and type-species descriptions of Breinlia trichosuri (BREINL, 1913) and Dipetalonema caudipina (MOLIN, 1858), and the author concludes that Breinlia must be considered as a valid genus, distinguished from Dipetalonema, principally, by the morphology fo the longer spicule.

This paper deals with field investigations on the biology of "saúva parda" (brown parasol ant, Atta capiguara Gonçalves, 1944), performed at Piracicaba and several other counties (State of São Paulo, Brazil). This ant is very noxious to several grasses and seems to make its colony only in very poor soils. Formerly the insect was known only in three counties; the writers found it in other fourteen ones.

New records added to the Colombian fauna: Susuacanga unicolor (Bates, 1870), Opades costipennis (Buquet, 1844), Eburodacrys havanensis Chevrolat, 1862, E. granipennis Gounelle, 1909, E. moruna Martins, 1997, E. nemorivaga Gounelle, 1909, E. pilicornis Fisher, 1944. New species described: Pantomallus martinezi, from Cundinamarca and Meta and Beraba inermis, from Cundinamarca.

Incorporação com I131 por biossíntese e dupla troca, identificação e isolamento do éster metílico do ácido alfa-iodo palmítico e do éster metílico do ácido oléico, da alga marinha Centroceras clavulatum (Martius, 1870)

Com iodo-131 e o emprego do método cromatográfico, foi possível isolar duas substâncias orgânicas lipídicas emuma alga marinha. Os quatro métodos químicos de análise estrutural, foram aplicados e nos deram como resultado, ser uma delas, o éster metílico do ácido oléico e a outra o estér metílico do ácido alfa-iodo palmítico, substância esta até então desconhecida na literatura científica, como existente em algas marinhas.

Microtriatoma pratai Sherlock & Guitton, 1982 não pertence a este gênero de Triatominae. Não é inseto hematófago. Pertence ao gênero Aradomorpha Champion, 1899 e à espécie A. championi descrita por Lent & Wygodzinsky em 1944, inseto predador da subfamília Reduviidae.

Taxonomic review of Lutzomyia walkeri (Newstead, 1914) [= Lutzomyia marajoensis (Damasceno & Causey, 1944)] and the resurrection of Lutzomyia dubitans (Sherlock, 1962) (Diptera: Psychodidae)

Examination of the holotype of Lutzomyia marajoensis (Damasceno & Causey, 1944) shows this species to be identical to Lutzomyia walkeri (Newstead, 1914). The name Lutxomyia dubitans (Sherlock, 1962) is resurrected for another sand fly which has been incorrectly named L. marajoensis since 1961. Newly discovered structural differences between males and females of L walkeri from L. dubitans are presented.
