The formative platform of the Congress of Panama (1810-1826): the Pan-American conjecture revisited

This article examines the formative platform of the Congress of Panama of 1826. It seeks to support the hypothesis that the nature and scope of the first test of integration in the Western Hemisphere depended critically on the platform created by Simón Bolívar and other Latin American Independence heroes from the Declaration of Independence of Venezuela in 1810 until the last bilateral agreement of 1826. In that respect, it corroborates the Latin American Identity of the initiative.

A disparada do burro e a cartilha do feitor: lógicas morais na construção de redes de sociabilidade entre escravos e livres em fazendas do Sudeste, 1860-1888

O objetivo principal do autor é pensar as relações de trabalho entre senhores, escravos, lavradores, administradores e feitores, em fazendas de café do Sudeste, nas décadas finais da escravidão. Para isso, tais relações sociais são analisadas através de dois estudos de caso, nos quais se chama a atenção para o conflito entre homens livres e escravos na formação de alianças em torno das regras sociais de justiça e trabalho, as quais são constantemente rompidas e reafirmadas, em permanente conflito social.

Caracterização morfológica de adultos de Nusalala tessellata (Gerstaecker, 1888) (Neuroptera, Hemerobiidae)

Morphologic characterization of adult of Nusalala tessellata (Gerstaecker, 1888) (Neuroptera, Hemerobiidae). Adult of N. tessellata is redescribed based on morphological characters. 533 specimens were collected in São Paulo state in plantations of citrus (Santa Rosa de Viterbo), soybean (Nuporanga), cotton (Ribeirão Preto) and corn (Ribeirão Preto and Jaboticabal). Some other additional specimens collected on Sorghum bicolor (Lavras-MG) and Ilex paraguariensis (São Mateus do Sul, Cascavel-PR) were also studied. Illustrations obtained by SEM are given by first time.

Redescription of the enigmatic Thoracotropis cypriformis Freeman (Diptera, Mycetophilidae)

The Chilean species Thoracotropis cypriformis, type species of the monotypic genus Thoracotropis, is redescribed based on the only known specimen, the holotype. Habitus, head, wing venation, and male terminalia are illustrated. Comments are made on the diagnostic features of the genus and on its position in the subfamily to which it is usually assigned, the Leiinae.

História da química e da geologia: Joseph Black e James Hutton como referências para educação em ciências

The second half of eighteenth century is marked by the advancement of chemistry and geology. The first science acquired the law of conservation of mass and this science represented a important support to geology and mineralogy. We say that both became modern science that time. Our aim is to show up some interrelations between history of chemistry and history of geology by means of the study of Joseph Black's and James Hutton's works. We defend that it is positive to science education to understand and approach the relations among different and disciplinary areas of science.

RESUMOEste artigo examina a análise de David Hume realizada em seu livro História da Inglaterra, da luta entre o parlamento e o rei James I sobre as finanças da coroa durante o primeiro trimestre do século XVII. Inicialmente, são apresentados os principais elementos políticos por trás da briga no coração do poder político da Inglaterra, seguidos por comentários do escritor escocês sobre as finanças reais, com ênfase nos seus pontos de vista sobre as receitas e despesas da Coroa durante o reinado de James I. No final são recuperados os fatores de longo prazo elencados como determinantes da nova postura parlamentar.
