New taxa described from Colombia: Desmiphora (D.) tristis sp. nov. from Cundinamarca; Blabia longipennis sp. nov. from Nariño; Anhanga gen. nov., type species A. diabolica sp. nov. from Valle del Cauca; Exalphus vicinus sp. nov. from Santander; Necalphus maranduba sp. nov. from Amazonas; Paradesmus gen. nov., type species, P. iuba sp. nov. from Atlántico. New combination proposed: Padesmus brunneus (Aurivillius, 1923) from Adesmus. New records for nineteen species (Acanthoderini, Acanthocinini, Aerenicini, Desmiphorini, Hemilophini, Polyrhaphidini) of Colombian fauna are given.

Seven new species of Anomiopus Westwood, 1842 are added to smaragdinus group: from Brazil, A. caputipilus (Goiás), A. impartectus (São Paulo), A. paraensis (Pará), A. preissae (Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro), A. quadridentatus (Bahia) and A. soledari (Goiás e Distrito Federal); from Argentina, A. similis (Misiones). A key and illustrations of the species are added.

Novos Hemilophini (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae) da Região Neotropical

A key to the species of Murupeaca Martins & Galileo, 1992 is presented and M. tavakiliani, from French Guyana, is described. Hemiloapis gen. nov. and its type-species, H. yandaira sp. nov. are described from Bolivia.Two new species are described in the genus Mariliana Lane, 1970, M. amazonica sp. nov. from French Guiana and M. cicadellida sp. nov. from Bolivia. A key to the species of Mariliana is added. Two other new species of the genus Erana Bates, 1866 are described: E. septuosa sp. nov. and E. rosea sp. nov., both from Panama.

Eight species are considered for the genus Cobelura Erichson, 1847, three described herein: C. stockwelli sp. nov., from Panamá (Canal Zone, Darien), C. wappesi sp. nov., from Ecuador (Pichincha) and C. howdenorum sp. nov., from Colombia (Norte de Santander). The treatment of each new species includes information on its geographical distribution, photographs and a comparison with its most similar congenerics. A key to species of Cobelura is presented.

Anacanthus biramiguelus sp. nov., from Brazil (Rondônia and Mato Grosso), is described and illustrated. A key to the Brazilian species of Anacanthus is added.

Morphology of three Brazilian species of Semiotus (Coleoptera, Elateridae, Semiotinae)

The morphology of Semiotus distinctus (Herbst, 1806), S. intermedius (Herbst, 1806) and S. ligneus (Linnaeus, 1767), including mouthparts and male and female genitalia, is described and illustrated. A comparative analysis of the characters related to the external morphology, mouthparts and male and female genitalia is also included.

Oviposition behavior of Zabrotes subfasciatus females (Coleoptera, Bruchidae) under conditions of host deprivation

Oviposition of Zabrotes subfasciatus (Boheman, 1833) on Phaseolus vulgaris (Linnaeus, 1753) was studied immediately after emergence of the adults throughout the females life and in situations of host deprivation lasting for 1 to 10 days. The number of eggs laid daily, longevity, duration of oviposition and distribution of eggs per grain were studied. The number of eggs laid per day varied significantly, with the oviposition peak in the presence of the host (control group) occurring between day 2 and day 5 of oviposition. In the absence of the host, a shift in the oviposition peak to the first day after deprivation was observed, except for the group deprived for one day which showed a peak between days 1 and 4 after introduction of the host. The distribution of the eggs per grain in the control group and in the groups deprived of the host for 2, 5, 8 and 10 days, a larger egg aggregation was observed for all deprived groups compared to the control group.

Sistemática y distribución geográfica de Heterachthes flavicornis (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)

Revision of 973 specimens of Heterachthes flavicornis (Thomson, 1865), mostly emerged from a same individual of different host plant species, shows that this species has a high phenotypical variation in the color of elytra, antennae and legs. This variability is not related to the geographical distribution or to the host plants. Heterachthes flavicornis sexsignatus (Thomson,1865), and Heterachthes flavicornis bonariensis (Thomson,1865) are considered into the synonymy of Heterachthes flavicornis (Thomson, 1865).

Hydrophilus (Dibolocelus) palpalis (Coleoptera, Hydrophilidae, Hydrophilinae): descrição dos estágios imaturos

Egg case, larvae and pupa of Hydrophilus (Dibolocelus) palpalis are described and illustrated. The aquaria-terraria method was used to rear immature instars in the laboratory.

Novo gênero e nota sinonímica em Callichromatini (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae)

Cotychroma gen. nov., é descrito com sua espécie-tipo, C. acaguassu sp. nov., do Brasil (Espírito Santo). Plinthocoelium sapphirum (Bates, 1879) é considerado um novo sinônimo de Callichroma chilensis Blanchard, 1851.

Novas espécies de Adetus (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae, Apomecynini)

Trata-se da descrição de novas espécies de Adetus LeConte, 1852, provenientes da Bolívia (Santa Cruz): Adetus cacapira sp. nov. e A. cecamirim sp. nov.; do Peru (Cuzco) e da Bolívia (Santa Cruz): A. inca sp. nov. e do México (Veracruz): A. catemaco sp. nov.

Notas sobre Apterocaulus (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Prioninae)

A situação taxonômica de Apterocaulus Fairmaire, 1864 e a validade de Apterocaulus heterogama heterogama (Burmeister, 1861) são discutidas. Apterocaulus heterogama durnfordii (Burmeister, 1879) é considerada como subespécie válida, sendo aceito os argumentos de Di Iorio (2002).
