Social representation of domestic violence against women among Nursing Technicians and Community Agents

OBJECTIVE To analyze the social representations of the Nursing Technicians and Community Health Agents about domestic violence against women. METHOD A qualitative study carried out in the city of Rio Grande, RS, in which evocations and interviews were collected between July and November 2013. For the treatment of data were used the EVOC 2005 software and the context analysis. RESULT It is a structured representation, in which the central nucleus contains conceptual, imaging and attitudinal elements, namely: abuse, aggression, physical aggression, cowardice and lack of respect. Such terms were present in the context of the interviews. The professionals acknowledged that violence is not limited to physical aspects and were judgemental about the acts of the aggressor. CONCLUSION This knowledge may enable the problematization of the studied phenomenon with the team, and facilitate the search for prevention and intervention strategies for victims, offenders and managers of health services.

Working in a digital world: new leadership practices for the development of a digital library workforce

Digital library developments are part of a global move in many sectors of society toward virtual work and electronic services made possible by the advances in information technology. This environment requires new attitudes and skills in the workforce and therefore leaders who understand the global changes underlying the new information economy and how to lead and develop such a workforce. This article explores ways to develop human resources and stimulate creativity to capitalize on the immense potential of digital libraries to educate and empower social change. There is a shortage of technically skilled workers and even more so of innovators. Retention and recruitment is one of the greatest obstacles to developing digital library services and information products.

Inclusão digital e educação para a competência informacional: uma questão de ética e cidadania

Este artigo é o resultado de um esforço para conceituar inclusão digital, feito pelo Grupo de Estudos em Políticas de Informação e Inclusão Digital (Gepindi), vinculado ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Ciência da Informação, do Instituto de Ciência da Informação, da Universidade Federal da Bahia (Posici/ICI/UFBA). O texto discute inclusão digital à luz de outros conceitos encontrados na ciência da informação e em áreas correlatas. No imbricado entrelaçamento desses conceitos complexos, o resultado final pretendido é um marco de compreensão para a vinculação entre ética e cidadania, de um lado, e educação para a informação na Internet ou information literacy education, de outro, com vistas à inclusão social.

A Plenária Virtual Permanente é um sistema de áudio e vídeo para redes digitais desenvolvido para conselhos de saúde do Brasil. O artigo aborda as discussões que subsidiaram a criação do dispositivo, a descrição do mesmo e os desafios para a inclusão digital no âmbito dessas instâncias de participação.
