Triatoma rubrovaria (Blanchard, 1843) (Hemiptera-Reduviidae-Triatominae) III: patterns of feeding, defecation and resistance to starvation

Data from the Chagas Disease Control Program indicate a growing domiciliary and peridomiciliary invasion of Triatoma rubrovaria in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, where it has become the most frequent triatomine species captured there since the control of T. infestans. Bionomic characteristics that could influence the vectorial capacity of T. rubrovaria as vector of Trypanosoma cruzi were evaluated: patterns of (i) feeding, (ii) defecation, and (iii) resistance to starvation, using insects fed on mice. Fifty three percent of the females showed a defecation pattern conducive to chagasic transmission, defecating either on or near the bite site. The averages of the resistance to starvation varied from 48.1 to 179 days, for the first and fifth nymphal stages, respectively. Our study shows that with respect to the patterns of feeding, defecation and resistance to fasting, T. rubrovaria presented similar rates to the ones observed for other effective vector species, such as T. infestans. Thus, based on our studies we conclude that T. rubrovaria has biological characteristics that can positively influence its capacity to become infected and transmit T. cruzi, and also to keep residual populations after chemical control interventions.

Triatoma rubrovaria (Blanchard, 1843) (Hemiptera - Reduviidae - Triatominae) IV: bionomic aspects on the vector capacity of nymphs

Triatoma rubrovaria has become the most frequently captured triatomine species since the control of T. infestans in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil. The aim of this study was to evaluate aspects of the vectorial competence of T. rubrovaria using nymphs raised in laboratory under environmental conditions of temperature and humidity and fed on mice. The average developmental period of T. rubrovaria was 180.1 days. The percentage of defecation shortly after feeding was still higher than previous studies in which samples of T. rubrovaria subjected to a slight starvation period before the blood meal were used. The obtained results support former indication that T. rubrovaria presents bionomic characteristics propitious to be a good vector of Trypanosoma cruzi to man. Therefore its domiciliary invasion process must be continuously monitored.

Hermenêutica e saúde: reflexões sobre o pensamento de Hans-Georg Gadamer

Este artigo tem como objetivo contribuir para a utilização da hermenêutica de Gadamer na prática de enfermagem. Reflete acerca da incorporação do paradigma conceitual sobre a saúde, o cuidado e o diálogo terapêutico. Na primeira parte, apresenta a discussão dos conceitos Gadamerianos da obra Verdade e Método, a filosofia hermenêutica proposta pelo filósofo e finaliza com a articulação do conceito de saúde apresentado na obra O Caráter Oculto da Saúde, que propõe o cuidado mediado pelo diálogo terapêutico e sua utilização pelos profissionais de enfermagem.

Occurrence of the rare genus Microcrocis P. Richter (Chroococcales, Cyanobacteria) in a coastal lagoon from southern Brazil

The paper records the first occurrence of the genus Microcrocis P. Richter (Chroococcales, Cyanobacteria), represented by M. pulchella (Buell) Geitler, in Brazil. The species was found in two zones, one with freshwater and the other with brackish water, of a coastal lagoon of Rio Grande do Sul State (31°15’-31°30’ S and 50°54’-51°09’ W). Comparison between M. pulchella and its most closely related species is presented. Up to now this species had occurrence records limited to freshwater systems in temperate regions. Its presence in a subtropical coastal lagoon from southernmost Brazil, either in fresh or in brackish water, broadened the knowledge of the distribution area of M. pulchella.

Naturaleza orgánica y responsabilidad ética: Hans Jonas y sus críticos

En este trabajo se presentan y discuten algunos ejemplos de la recepción crítica a las ideas de Jonas, en especial las de carácter ético. Se enfatiza que la posición ética de Jonas no es una propuesta utópica o ingenua, sino realista y conciente de sus limitaciones. Algunos críticos olvidan que el "principio de responsabilidad" jonasiano está ligado a una recuperación del organismo libre, concebido como el centro de la reflexión ética.

DROIT ET DÉMOCRATIE CHEZ HANS KELSEN. LA CRITIQUE KELSÉNIENNE DE LA PERSONNALISATION DE L’ÉTAT

Cette étude analyse comment Kelsen, pour libérer le droit et la démocratie des traces de ce qu'il appelle les hypostases collectives ou la mythologie de l'âme collective, prend position face aux grandes théories de la sociologie et de la psychologie sociale de son temps (Durkheim, Simmel, Weber et Freud). D'abord, il s'agira de montrer comment Kelsen critique les métaphores de l'âme collective ; ensuite, de montrer comment la pensée kelsénienne sur le droit et la démocratie essaie d'échapper aux problèmes liés à la métaphore de l'âme collective. Cela peut laisser entrevoir quelques points communs entre la théorie de Kelsen et les théories contemporaines sur le droit et la démocratie libérées des prémisses de l'idée d'une communauté homogène.
