Diagnosis and treatment of hepatic tumors are a challenge for the surgeon in some situations. There are many histologic types of these neoplasms, and their diagnoses are increasing. Leyomioma of the liver is a rare pathology that is presented in this article in a 44 years old woman without immunosuppression. A review about its clinical aspects, image diagnosis and surgical therapy is discussed, based on the world medical literature.

The authors report a case of urethral leiomyoma diagnosed during pregnancy, which was conservatively treated up to the 38th week, when the pregnancy was interrupted. Thirty days after delivery, exeresis of the lesion was performed from the upper border of the urethral meatus and sutured with interrupted delayed-absorbable suture. The patient evolved favorably and presented no lesion recurrence during three months of follow up.

Extrauterine leiomyomas are rare, benign, and may arise in any anatomic sites. Their unusual growth pattern may even mimic malignancy and can result in a clinical dilemma. Occasionally, uterine leiomyomas become adherent to surrounding structures. They also develop an auxiliary blood supply, and lose their original attachment to the uterus, thus becoming 'parasitic'. Parasitic myomas may also be iatrogenically created after uterine fibroid surgery, particularly if morcellation is used. This report presented two cases of parasitic myomas with sepsis, both requiring right hemicolectomy. It reviewed the pertinent literature.
