Efeito do triacilglicerídeo de cadeia média, da fibra e do cálcio na disponibilidade de magnésio e de zinco pelo método in vitro e metodologia de superfície de resposta

Nutritional therapy with enteral diets became highly specialized in the last years. This work aims to study the effect of the components of a formulation, namely fiber, calcium and medium-chain triglycerides, for dialysability of minerals. Analysis of multiple variables was done using response surface methodology. The level curve showed that the tertiary interaction MCT-fiber-calcium was the one that presented the highest synergism in the formulation. The proportion of 33% MCT, 25% fiber and 42% calcium, gave the best formulation for availability of magnesium.

Sensores ópticos com detecção no infravermelho próximo e médio

Optical chemical sensors with detection in the near and mid infrared region are reviewed. Fundamental concepts of infrared spectroscopy and optical chemical sensors are briefly described, before presenting some aspects on optical chemical sensors, such as synthesis of NIR and IR reagents, preparation of new materials as well as application in determinations of species of biological, industrial and environmental importance.

Incorporação de líquidos iônicos e nanopartículas metálicas na construção de sensores eletroquímicos

The most relevant advances on analytical applications of ionic liquids (IL) as binder in the construction of electrochemical sensors and biosensors based on carbon paste are presented. This new class of solvents - the IL - has received great attention in electroanalytical researches due to the excellent physical and chemical properties of these materials, such as high conductivity, low toxicity, good stability, large electrochemical window and catalytic ability. Recently, the interest in electrodes modified with IL, especially when combined with metallic nanoparticles, has increased expressively due to improve the sensitivity and others advantages discussed in this review.

Revisão dos tratamentos químicos da fibra natural para mistura com poliolefinas

The use of natural fibers as reinforcement in polymer composites has been a focus of interest. However, these composites exhibit lower mechanical properties than those of pure polymers because of the low interfacial interactions between the hydrophobic polymer matrix and the hydrophilic fiber. To overcome this problem, different chemical treatments applied to the fibers have been reported. One of the most used treatments is mercerization, which can improve adhesion between the fiber and polymeric matrix. Another chemical treatment involves the use of acids (stearic and oleic acids). The chemically treated fibers used in composite materials showed improved mechanical properties.

Obtenção de nanocelulose da fibra de coco verde e incorporação em filmes biodegradáveis de amido plastificados com glicerol

Composites strengthened with nanocellulose have been developed with the aim of improving mechanical, barrier, and thermal properties of materials. This improvement is primarily due to the nanometric size and the high crystallinity of the incorporated cellulose. Cassava starch films plasticized with glycerol and incorporated with nanocellulose from coconut fibers were developed in this study. The effect of this incorporation was studied with respect to the water activity, solubility, mechanical properties, thermal analysis, and biodegradability. The study demonstrated that the film properties can be significantly altered through the incorporation of small concentrations of nanocellulose.

EFEITO DOS TRATAMENTOS SUPERFICIAIS NAS PROPRIEDADES DO BAGAÇO DA FIBRA DE PIAÇAVA Attalea funifera Martius

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of surface treatment on the properties of waste piassava fiber with the goal of aggregating additional business value. The fiber surface was subjected to four different treatments. In the present work, it was found that washing the fibers with water partially removed impurities from the surface rendering it rougher. Alkaline treatment removed impurities from the surface, hemicellulose and lignin, improving the flexibility of the fibers. Increasing the concentration of washing agents, times and temperature of treatment promoted intense defibrillation on the fiber surface, reducing its strength.

CARACTERIZAÇÃO E ATIVIDADE CATALÍTICA DE K2CO3/AL2O3 NA TRANSESTERIFICAÇÃO DO ÓLEO DE GIRASSOL COM AQUECIMENTO CONVENCIONAL E MICRO-ONDAS

Commercial and synthetic mesoporous aluminas impregnated with potassium carbonate were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen physisorption, infrared spectroscopy and 27Al MAS NMR. The activities in the transesterification reaction of sunflower oil with methanol for biodiesel production were evaluated. 27Al MAS NMR spectra evidenced the presence of AlIV and AlVI in the samples, and also of AlV sites in the mesoporous synthesized alumina, which disappeared after impregnation with potassium salt followed by calcination. All aluminas containing potassium were active for biodiesel production from sunflower seed oil, with high conversions by both conventional heating and microwave irradiation.

Zingiber officinale (GENGIBRE) COMO FONTE ENZIMÁTICA NA REDUÇÃO DE COMPOSTOS CARBONÍLICOS

Various vegetables as biological catalysts were evaluated in enantioselective reduction of carbonyl compounds. The stereoselectivity of the process was in agreement with Prelog's rule for twelve of the vegetables, whereas okra and green peppers formed anti-Prelog products. Zingiber officinale exhibited the best results with 30% conversion and 89% ee. The parameters of the reaction such as time, solvent and other substrates investigated, as well as the specie, showed good chemo- and enantioselectivity.

Ética, ciência e tecnologia

O artigo visa pensar a relação entre ética, ciência e tecnologia, enfatizando o problema de sua revinculação depois da cisão entre os juízos de fato e os juízos de valor, ocorrida no início dos tempos modernos. Uma vez examinada a ética da aristocracia guerreira e a moral do santo, procura-se delinear o caminho tomando como referência a ética da responsabilidade, cujo protótipo é a moral do sábio, desaparecido no curso dos tempos modernos, em razão da fragmentação do saber e do advento do especialista. Ao fim do estudo, é discutida a relação entre a ética e a metafísica, com o intuito de ajustar a questão antropológica à perspectiva cosmológica, bem como de fornecer as bases de um novo humanismo, objetivando a humanização da técnica e a geração de um novo homem, alfabetizado em ciência, tecnologia e humanidades.

Meta-estética e ética francesa do sentido (Derrida, Deleuze, Serres, Nancy)

"Meta-estética e ética francesa do sentido" é uma análise de alguns conceitos formadores do chamado "pós-estruturalismo" e de certos aspectos de sua seqüência histórica. Através de fontes textuais de pensadores que ocupam um momento significativo da produção filosófica internacional, com Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, Michel Serres e Jean-Luc Nancy, dos anos sessenta até os noventa, o texto coloca em perspectiva conceitos nevrálgicos e estratégicos ressituados nas suas implicações críticas. A manifestação das convergências ligando os pensamentos desses quatro filósofos permite ressaltar os bastidores especulativos de uma "condição poética do pensamento" (Alain Badiou) delineando os contornos de uma meta-estética do sentido que é ao mesmo tempo uma ética. Essa fusão, bem sintetizada na fórmula de Michel Serres, que diz que "a moral é a física", é determinada pelas elaborações, as experimentações e as conquistas realizadas na filosofia derridiana da desconstrução, na filosofia deleuziana do conceito, na filosofia serresiana da física e na filosofia nancyana da arealidade. Os processos em jogo nesses sistemas tentam descobrir nos estratos aporéticos do pensamento as chances de induzir uma cosmologia paradoxal e inaudita.

Um dos problemas mais difíceis enfrentados pelos defensores de uma ética evolucionista é a falácia naturalista. Neste artigo, analisamos as soluções propostas por W. Rottschaefer e por R. Richards e verificamos não serem elas suficientes para eliminar o problema da falácia naturalista sem comprometer a especificidade da moral.
