THE “CARTAS PORTUGUESAS” (PORTUGUESE LETTERS) AND THE TRADITION OF THE “UNREQUITED LOVE" IN THE PORTUGUESE LITERATURE OF FEMALE VOICE

Inserted in the perspective of literary studies, this paper proposes an analysis of the “Cartas Portuguesas” (Portuguese Letters), a work attributed to Mariana Alcoforado, assuming that this work is constituted within the Lusitanian literature as an important formative element of the imaginary loving Portuguese female voice. Through the study, it is possible to identify the fact that the letters are prefaced, stylistically or thematically, by the songs of love and of friend, and succeeded by works such as “Livro de Sóror Saudade” (Book of Longing Sóror), of Florbela Espanca, and “Novas Cartas Portuguesas” (New Portuguese Letters) by Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Velho da Costa and Maria Teresa Horta.

DIFERENÇA E MEMÓRIA EM PUENTES/PONTES, UMA ANTOLOGIA TRANSNACIONAL

Este artigo pretende comentar sobre a antologia de poesia argentina e brasileira publicada em 2003, intitulada Puentes/Pontes. Primeiramente, abordará os conceitos que colaboraram para a configuração da antologia, como leitura e leitor, soberania dos organizadores e do mercado editorial, e o significado simbólico de “ponte”. Em seguida, ocupar-se-á das diferentes concepções estéticas, literárias e históricas, buscando avaliar como elas dispõem a perspectiva analítica escolhida pelos antologistas. Neste sentido, apóia-se em outros textos dos próprios organizadores, que oferecem visões esclarecedoras a respeito dos fundamentos teóricos que baseiam, ou ainda precedem, as leituras elaboradas por eles. A esse respeito, a análise sugere que Monteleone, da margem argentina, aproxima-se de uma concepção tardo-modernista de interpretação do panorama literário, enquanto Hollanda, do lado brasileiro, vincula-se a uma visão modernista enraizada em preceitos historicistas e nacionalistas  

SÉRGIO MONTEIRO ZAN AND THE VERTIGO OF LANGUAGE

Starting from the notion of the permanence of literary works in time, this article brings a survey on Sérgio Monteiro Zan’s poetry, presented in his book As horas sonâmbulas: sonetos extemporâneos, published in 2001. The intention here is to investigate some of its lines of force and some elements of its language. A declared heiress of the 19th century Symbolism, this poetry chooses its language in the space of some specific practices (of form, vocabulary, syntax, images), experiencing in this choice the possibility of a cleavage between the poetical language and the average language, full and master of itself at the same time, but emptied in its relations with the current language. Such element – called ‘vertiginous’ – leads us to a reflection on the ways of the poetry nowadays and its relations with past and tradition.

A FORÇA CENTRÍPEDA DA POESIA LIRÍCA

This study investigates the motives and the modes of confluence between lyric prose and prose, in the novel, Húmus, of Raul Germano Brandão, portuguese writer from XX century. The higher the sensibility of the man, more he understands that the mystery of poetry is in the essence of what is said and not in certain shapes. In lyric predominates the feeling, the emotion, the subjectivity, the expression of ‘self’, because the lyric matter is, exactly, the subjective world. The modern man is an anguished being, once he watches the fragmentation of his integrity, namely, his identity is being misplaced. However such anguish cannot be expressed by common words, because they cannot translate all the intensity of human pain. The expression of deep restlessness that oppresses the being demands the presence of the lyric. Insofar makes poetry, the romance text unfold itself as space of experimentation, of varied configurations, of multiple resources, that substitutes the unity of enunciator by the plurality of enouncements and assimilates uncountable proper resources of the poetry making, such as metaphors, symbols, images and allegories, turning the frontiers between poetry and prose fluid. After all, truthfully, it is the language of poetry that makes the literature exists.
