Our research aimed to reveal the effects that can be observed during the buying process of food products and can influence the decisions of customers. We focused on the role of enduring involvement in customers’ behavioural loyalty, that is, the repurchase of food brands. To understand this relationship in a more sophisticated way, we involved two mediating constructs in our conceptual model: perceived risk and perceived knowledge of food products. The data collection was carried out among undergraduate students in frame of an online survey, and we used SPSS/AMOS software to test the model. The results only partly supported our hypothesis, although the involvement effects on loyalty and the two mediating constructs were strong enough, loyalty couldn’t be explained well by perceived risk and knowledge. The roles of further mediating/moderating variables should be determined and investigated in the next section of the research series.

A „Versenyben a világgal” c. kutatási program 2009-es adatfelvételének két fő aspektusát vizsgálja a tanulmány. Az egyik az e-business / elektronikus kereskedelem területe, a másik a marketing, azon belül is online megoldások területe. Az infokommunikációs technológiák alkalmazása teszi lehetővé a vállalatok számára, hogy online jelenlétükkel és aktivitásukkal hatékonyabbá vagy épp sikeressé tegyék működésüket. Dolgozatunkban azt vizsgáljuk, hogy az egyes iparágak milyen mértékben használják az online marketing és az elektronikus kereskedelem eszközeit. Úgy véljük, hogy fontos hozadéka tanulmányunknak a két terület kérdéskörének kritikája és újrastrukturálására tett javaslatunk a kérdőív szintjén. A kutatásunk eredményei alapján elmondhatjuk, hogy a hazai vállalatok többsége használ valamilyen csatornát vagy eszközt működése során, de az eszközök megoszlása korántsem egyenletes. Míg egyes iparágak változatos megoldásokat használnak, mások szerényebb eszközkészlettel dolgoznak. Megállapításainkat ugyanakkor óvatosan kell kezelni, mivel a mintában a termelő vállalatok felülreprezentáltak voltak, elsősorban a kereskedő és különféle szolgáltató ágazatok rovására. Kvalitatív interjú segítségével vizsgáltunk két vállalatot, hogy megértsük az egyes eszközök (akár online marketing, akár e-kereskedelmi) használata és kerülése mögött álló lehetséges okokat. ________ In our study, we explore two aspects of the program titled „Competing with the world”, conducted in 2009. The field of e-business / e-commerce and online marketing is addressed. Application of info communication technologies through online presence make companies capable of a more competitive and more effective functioning. We examine the extent of use of online marketing and e-commerce tools in various industries. We believe that our critical approach and recommendations based on the structure and textual form is an important increment of our study in the reform and amendment of future research questionnaire. Based on our research, we might pronounce that majority of Hungarian companies use some kind of online channel or tool, however, distribution is not uniform. Some industries work with richer, more diverse tool sets; others use only a single channel or tool. However, we must be careful with our statement, due to the composition of the sample: manufacturing companies were overrepresented in the sample at the expense of commercial and different supplier industries. We examined two different companies through qualitative interviews to understand the reasons behind the use or avoidance of different tools (online marketing and e-business as well).

A vállalatok társadalmi felelősségvállalásával (CSR) kapcsolatos alapelvek, kezdeményezések és tevékenységek kommunikációja a vállalati kommunikáció egyik sarkalatos pontjává vált szinte az egész világon. A cégek CSR-kezdeményezéseik bemutatásához egyre többször az internetet is igénybe veszik. Az on-line média használatával párhuzamosan az elmúlt évtizedben egyre többen kutatják a CSR-kommunikáció elektronikus formáit, jóllehet ezek a kutatások többnyire leíró jellegűek, és a CSR-kommunikáció, valamint egyes vállalati jellemzők (méret, iparág és más magyarázó változók) között keresnek kapcsolatot. A szerzők e cikkben a társadalmi felelősségvállalással foglalkozó vállalati weboldalakat kritikai szemüvegen keresztül vizsgálják. Céljuk, hogy feltárják az on-line kommunikációt jellemző belső ellentmondásokat és a vallott és követett értékek közötti különbségeket. _______ Communicating corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles, initiatives, and activities has become a common practice of companies all around the world. It is quite apparent that firms use internet more and more often to communicate their CSR initiatives to their stakeholders. Parallel with the extensive use of the online media, more and more research has been elaborated on the field of online CSR communication in the last decade as well. However, these studies usually have a strong descriptive focus trying to reveal connections between the intensity of online communication of CSR values and activities, and company size, industrial background, and other explanatory variables. In contrast, the authors analysed corporate web pages dedicated to CSR through critical lenses. Their research was designed to explore any dissonances and contradictions within online communication and between communication and real activities of firms from construction, retail, and telecommunication industries in Hungary.

As part of a wider research program we analysed the theoretical frameworks and the developments of the process of internationalisation (transnationalisation) of small- and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union and specifically in Hungary and Spain. We tried to highlight the barriers and trends of internationalisation. We consider internationalisation of the SME sector as a crucial factor in increasing competitiveness and as an important condition for sustainable and dynamic growth and improving employment (Europe 2020). We made policy recommendation mostly for the government in terms of how to promote the process. We carried out analyses of documents and databases, interviews, and online data collection.

The focus of this paper is brand destruction, however in a slightly different sense than the traditional marketing literature depicts it. The concept of brand destruction basically tends to be discussed either (1) as an accidental, counter-productive event in a campaign which leads to the ruining of the brand, or (2) an intentional act by competitors in the market, which results the same breakdown mentioned above. As this paper shows, there are other ways to consider as well, when speaking about brand destruction. An often overlooked type of brand destruction is a rather new phenomenon: destroying the brand by customers or business partners. The adequate scene for this case is the internet itself, especially different social media platforms, e. g. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. Also popular weblogs can play an important role in brand destruction made by customers or business partners (general cases related to social media are depicted in Lipsman – Mud – Rich – Bruich, 2012). This paper presents a couple of cases in the online field and focuses basically on online communicative activities, in which a brand’s negative properties come to discussion. Both Hungarian and foreign examples are easy to find and they all demonstrate the growing power of consumers. This observation led marketing experts to start talking about the ‘smooth seizure of power by consumers’. Whilst the critic of this concept is considered to be relevant, this paper describes the elements and methods of the ‘seizure’ – from an online social point of view. The key of handling brand destruction cases efficiently lies in the role of social media users. They are not only consumers, but the opportunity for producing online contents is in their hands as well – this fact results in the idea of ‘prosumers’. Thus customers on social media platforms must be handled as a ‘critical mass’: as civic warriors with strong weapons in their armoury. No companies are allowed to feel safe, as the slightest error may well be punished by the crowd.
