We present a test for identifying clusters in high dimensional data based on the k-means algorithm when the null hypothesis is spherical normal. We show that projection techniques used for evaluating validity of clusters may be misleading for such data. In particular, we demonstrate that increasingly well-separated clusters are identified as the dimensionality increases, when no such clusters exist. Furthermore, in a case of true bimodality, increasing the dimensionality makes identifying the correct clusters more difficult. In addition to the original conservative test, we propose a practical test with the same asymptotic behavior that performs well for a moderate number of points and moderate dimensionality. In the paper learning algorithm for adjusting weight coefficients of the Cascade Neo-Fuzzy Neural Network (CNFNN) in sequential mode is introduced. Concerned architecture has the similar structure with the Cascade-Correlation Learning Architecture proposed by S.E. Fahlman and C. Lebiere, but differs from it in type of artificial neurons. CNFNN consists of neo-fuzzy neurons, which can be adjusted using high-speed linear learning procedures. Proposed CNFNN is characterized by high learning rate, low size of learning sample and its operations can be described by fuzzy linguistic “if-then” rules providing “transparency” of received results, as compared with conventional neural networks. Using of online learning algorithm allows to process input data sequentially in real time mode.

In this paper an outliers resistant learning algorithm for the radial-basis-fuzzy-wavelet-neural network based on R. Welsh criterion is proposed. Suggested learning algorithm under consideration allows the signals processing in presence of significant noise level and outliers. The robust learning algorithm efficiency is investigated and confirmed by the number of experiments including medical applications.

The aim of this work is distributed genetic algorithm implementation (so called island algorithm) to accelerate the optimum searching process in space of solutions. Distributed genetic algorithm has also smaller chances to fall in local optimum. This conception depends on mutual cooperation of the clients which realize separate working of genetic algorithms on local machines. As a tool for implementation of distributed genetic algorithm, created to produce net's applications Java technology was chosen. In Java technology, there is a technique of remote methods invocation - Java RMI. By means of invoking remote methods it can send objects between clients and server RMI.
