Workflows are set of activities that implement and realise business goals. Modern business goals add extra requirements on workflow systems and their management. Workflows may cross many organisations and utilise services on a variety of devices and/or supported by different platforms. Current workflows are therefore inherently context-aware. Each context is governed and constrained by its own policies and rules to prevent unauthorised participants from executing sensitive tasks and also to prevent tasks from accessing unauthorised services and/or data. We present a sound and multi-layered design language for the design and analysis of secure and context aware workflows systems.

In the paper some important notions and features of context-aware and adaptable service provision have been discussed. An approach has been described which can be used to develop architectures with the mentioned features. The abstract architecture AC3 and its application for implementing an eLearning environment have been described as well.

Within project Distributed eLearning Center (DeLC) we are developing a system for distance and eLearning, which offers fixed and mobile access to electronic content and services. Mobile access is based on InfoStation architecture, which provides Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. On InfoStation network we are developing multi-agent middleware that provides context-aware, adaptive and personalized access to the mobile services to the users. For more convenient testing and optimization of the middleware a simulation environment, called CA3 SiEnv, is being created.

Development of methods and tools for modeling human reasoning (common sense reasoning) by analogy in intelligent decision support systems is considered. Special attention is drawn to modeling reasoning by structural analogy taking the context into account. The possibility of estimating the obtained analogies taking into account the context is studied. This work was supported by RFBR.

Researching simulation/implementation of membranes systems is very recent. Present literature gathers new publications frequently about software/hardware, data structures and algorithms for implementing P system evolution. In this context, this work presents a framework which goal is to make tasks of researchers of this field easier. Hence, it establishes the set of cooperating classes that form a reusable and flexible design for the customizable evaluation with new data structures and algorithms. Moreover, it includes customizable services for correcting, monitoring and logging the evolution and edition, recovering, automatic generating, persistence and visualizing P systems.

An automated cognitive approach for the design of Information Systems is presented. It is supposed to be used at the very beginning of the design process, between the stages of requirements determination and analysis, including the stage of analysis. In the context of the approach used either UML or ERD notations may be used for model representation. The approach provides the opportunity of using natural language text documents as a source of knowledge for automated problem domain model generation. It also simplifies the process of modelling by assisting the human user during the whole period of working upon the model (using UML or ERD notations).

Methods of analogous reasoning and case-based reasoning for intelligent decision support systems are considered. Special attention is drawn to methods based on a structural analogy that take the context into account. This work was supported by RFBR (projects 02-07-90042, 05-07-90232).
