Heteroglossia

Heteroglossia refers to Mikhail Bakhtin's concept of multiple speech practices that operate within a community or social group at any given historical moment. Most communities are characterized by heteroglossia in that they comprise a range of languages, discourses, voices, and viewpoints that continuously compete for authority and power.
