The increase in the publication of anthologies of Spanish poetry that had begun during Franco´s dictatorship as a way of creating a literary canon reaches its high point during the democratic period, especially between 1995 and 2008. This essay examines the proliferation of anthologies of contemporary Spanish poetry from 1976 to present from the perspective of the different cultural policies deployed by individual governments and from the theoretical framework of cultural capital. Issues such as reading habits and the symbolic value of books and anthologies, the process of canonization of poets, and poetry prizes, among others, constitute the focus of this study.

In the last fifteen years Alzheimer's disease (AD) has changed the way in which developed countries have tended to perceive and deal with ageing. It has also become the main health problem needing to be resolved in both financial and social terms. If cancer was considered and labelled as the epidemic of the twentieth century, AD has soon been designated as the epidemic of the twenty-first century. This article analyses how AD is perceived and represented in two films, Amanecer de un sueño, directed in 2008 by Freddy Mas Franqueza, and ¿Y tú quién eres?, directed in 2007 by Antonio Mercero. As for ageing, questions of stigmatization and stereotyping around AD are discussed, and special consideration is given to the manner in which medical, social and political institutions in Spain have created a monolithic view of AD with the purpose of shaping a homogeneous social response to the disease. Current debates between those who perceive the disease as a social burden for the State and the family, and those who defend centring the discussion on the persons diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and their personhoods frame the analysis of these two films. © W. El incremento en la publicación de antologías de poesía española iniciado en el franquismo como proceso de creación de un canon literario alcanza su culminación durante la democracia, sobre todo entre 1995 y 2008. El presente ensayo analiza esa proliferación antológica desde la perspectiva de la política cultural desplegada por los distintos gobiernos democráticos y desde los presupuestos teóricos del capital cultural. Cuestiones tales como los hábitos de lectura, el valor simbólico del libro y de las antologías, y el proceso de canonización de los estamentos académicos, así como de los premios, conforman el eje de este estudio.

In the past thirty years, autofiction has been at the center of many literary studies (Alberca 2005/6, 2007; Colonna 1989, 2004; Gasparini 2004; Genette 1982), although only recently in Hispanic literary studies. Despite the many common characteristics with self-translation, no interdisciplinary perspective has ever been offered by academic researchers in Literary nor in Translation Studies. This article analyses how the Cuban author, Reinaldo Arenas, uses specific methods inherent to autofiction, such as nominal and personal identity exploitation, among others, to translate himself metaphorically into his novel El color del verano [The colour of summer]. Analysing this novel drawing on the theory of self-translation sheds light on the intrinsic and extraneous motives behind the writer’s decision to use this specific literary genre, as well as the benefits presented to the reader who gains access to the ‘interliminal space’ of the writer’s work as a whole.
