Resumo:
We present a novel optical comb generation technique based on the use of a multi-harmonic electrical signal for driving the MZM. The proposed scheme is highly power efficient and gives rise to square shaped combs of advanced flatness and side mode suppression ratio while maintaining a stable performance over a long time period. © 2012 OSA.

We demonstrate a coexistence of coherent and incoherent modes in the optical comb generated by a passively mode-locked quantum dot laser. This is experimentally achieved by means of optical linewidth, radio frequency spectrum, and optical spectrum measurements and confirmed numerically by a delay-differential equation model showing excellent agreement with the experiment. We interpret the state as a chimera state. © 2014 American Physical Society.

A real-time 5×21.6 Gbit/s WDM electro-optical transceiver is presented. Optical carriers were spaced by 20 GHz and each one transmitted four orthogonally overlapping broadband subcarriers. Only analogue electronics were employed, achieving an unprecedented spectral efficiency in DSP-less SCM links.
