Dr. Kevin D. Rome, Sr. 19th President 2013-2017 Dr. Kevin D. Rome, Sr. earned the Bachelor of Art degree in English from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1989. He received the Master of Education in College Student Personnel with an emphasis in counseling from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, in 1991, and the Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas in 2001. On June 1, 2013, Dr. Rome took over as the 19th President of Lincoln University in Missouri.

Dr. Carolyn Mahoney initiated her undergraduate career at Mount St. Scholastic College in Atchison, Kansas, and returned to her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee to attend and graduate Summa Cum Laude with the Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics from Siena College. She received a Master’s of Science degree in 1972 and a PhD degree in 1984, both in mathematics, from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Mahoney was the 18th President and the first female president of Lincoln University. She brought a depth of familiarity with public and educational organization to Lincoln University. Her involvement in establishing a university on the west coast coupled with her experience as a professor and administrator, gave Mahoney the experience she needed to guide Lincoln University.

Lloyd Gaines also helped to support his family by selling magazine subscriptions. He graduated in 1931 after only three years and served as the Valedictorian of his class. As a senior, Gaines finished first in a local essay contest, winning a prize of $250 (equivalent to $3000 in modern currency) that he used to enroll as a student at Stowe Teachers College in St. Louis for the 1931-32 school year
