Crises of social significances: adolescents and their projects for future work

This is a report on data raised through research, which has already finished, about Identification references in adolescents . Objetives : To analyze and reflect upon the collected data, adolescents' representations about the work field and their projects for future work. To conceptualize about the crises of social significances which produce and order sense and, therefore, organize our perceptions of work through social discourses and practices which have an impact on the subjectivity of adolescents and young adults. Methodology: Brief presentation of the concepts which frame the qualitative research in this area. Reading and analysis of fragments from adolescents' accounts, obtained in focal groups at different state secondary schools. Conclusions: The adolescents researched portray a self-image full of uncertainty and skepticism as regards their future possibilities. The impact produced by the fall of work as an ideal of doing and being is made evident in their accounts. Only some of them link their future project with an invested and valuable activity, even if this is not associated with economic safety and wellbeing. Others present themselves as incapable to modify the state of things, which offers a field connected with consumerist values and with the idea that "you are worth what you have (in material things)".

Tecnología e incertidumbre en la práctica del riego en la provincia de Córdoba

En el presente trabajo se busca caracterizar a los regantes de Río Segundo, Córdoba, en términos comparativos y en vinculación con la tecnología. Se trata de pequeños y medianos productores localizados en el Espinal cordobés, límite de la región pampeana argentina, que se dedican a la agricultura extensiva de cereales y oleaginosas utilizando riego suplementario con agua subterránea. El objeto de estudio se aborda considerando que las lógicas de conocimiento atraviesan la producción y que el crecimiento de la incertidumbre es impulsado por la práctica de la innovación y la búsqueda de eficiencia. La gestión profesionalizada de la producción que lleva a la planificación de las actividades productivas en base a la reflexión permanente, revela la necesidad de conocer aquello que aún no se conoce, lo cual está en relación directa con la incertidumbre y con una mayor toma conciencia de los riesgos, tanto climáticos como económicos que se vinculan con la producción. Para alcanzar los objetivos propuestos se utilizó una metodología cualitativa basada en el trabajo de campo, la realización de entrevistas en profundidad y un marco interpretativo crítico complementado con elementos de la teoría social del riesgo.

The increasing role of career guidance at the turn of the centuries

At the beginning this paper sketches trends of the rapid changes of nearly all life issues, especially in society, work behaviours, labour environment and demands for adjustment under new social values. As main factors which influence worldwide the economic development and the labour market are elaborated the globalization and liberalization process and the labour market aspects of feminization, ageing labour force, migration, unemployment as a global phenomenon and general changes in labour demand by occupations and skill level. A well-developed and highly qualified career guidance service is seen as one of the most effective instruments in solving these problems which are raised by the described developements. The personal and psychological effects of uncertainty and dislocation of people and the new requirements of the expected qualification standard make career guidance an important cornerstone to cope with these social aspects. Thus, the nature and structure of guidance and counselling are described under the new challenges. The international co-operation in the guidance sector has accompanied this process in delivering two important documents. The Mission Statement and the Ethical Standards of IAEVG, adopted by the General Assembly of IAEVG in 1995, show in what direction guidance services have to be developed.
