Este artículo analiza los alcances de la expresión "observación participante" como técnica etnográfica de recolección de datos. A través de los materiales consignados por escrito correspondientes a una investigación concreta, se ponen de relieve las distintas actividades que la antropóloga social argentina Esther Hermitte desarrolló en los Altos de Chiapas en 1960-1, y que culminaron con el descubrimiento de un sistema de gobierno sobrenatural. Estas actividades, que aparecen como complementarias y hasta periféricas de las verdaderas técnicas (entrevistas, cuestionarios, encuestas) de la investigación propiamente dicha, dan sentido a la "observación participante" como Instrumento que permite familiarizar a la investigadora con los contextos que dan sentido a cuanto ocurre en ellos, y configurar el lugar de la investigadora al modo que lo hacen los tzeltales de Pinola, sus sujetos de estudio. La observación participante, entonces, bandona el ámbito de las "técnicas" concebidas unilateralmente desde el medio académico, para constituir una expresión en que los lugareños y sus investigadores negocian los términos de su relación y, al hacerlo, producen (mutuos) comprensión y conocimiento

It is analyzed, in this paper, the conflicts involving a family of small dairy cattle breeders, faced with the opposition of society and restrictions imposed by the local authorities, against the livestock grazing on public lands in peri-urban zone of a medium-sized Amazonian city. The case study employed participant observation, interviews and document research. Despite the subordinate position occupied by the focused group in the credibility hierarchy of versions issued on the conflict, the group maintains a resistance conduct, based both in the need for sustenance, and in an attempt to preserve a way of life cherished by its members

The construction of the research problem occurred in trying to investigate the configuration of public policies for the rural youth and how this political agenda was introduced in the State of the Brazil. The main issue in the research is how the process of configuration of public policies for rural youth in federal government has occurred. The methodology for this study used was qualitative research procedures were triggered participant observation, interviews and documentary analysis. During the research the actors, the formulated policies and rural youth category expressed during this process were highlighted

This article aims to point out the changes occured in the life story of the resettled Irapé Hydroelectric Power Plant in Jequitinhonha Vale, Minas Gerais. The study was conducted in the Community Reminiscent of Porto Coris Quilombo in Leme do Prado - MG. For this, we used as the main method the case-study, with information collected from written documents, interviews, participant observation and participation in meetings of neighborhood associations that form the resettlement. Through this study, confirmed that the life trajectory of these resettled populations at Irapé is marked by the inevitability that a forced resettlement process has.
