The dataset contains measurements of river stage and discharge for one sites along the Akuliarusiarsuup Kuua River's northern tributary, with 30 minute temporal resolution between June 2008 and August 2013 This river is a tributary to the Watson River discharging into Kangerlussuaq Fjord by the town of Kangerlussuaq, Southwest Greenland. Additional data of water temperature, air pressure are also provided. Compared to version 1.0 of the dataset, this dataset used a total of 36 in situ discharge observations collected between 2008 and 2012 to construct the rating curve. Furthermore, data of Station AK-004-001 between 2010-09-06T11:30 to 2010-09-07T13:30 have been removed from version 2.0 because these values were likely caused by backflow when a jokulhlaup from a large glacier dammed lake caused increased water levels in the downstreams lake. Thus, data measured at AK-004-001 between 2010-09-06T11:30 to 2010-09-07T13:30 are not representative for the AK-004 catchment.

In an attempt to establish criteria for obtaining reliable K-Ar dates, conventional K-Ar studies of several Deep Sea Drilling Project sites were undertaken. K-Ar dates of these rocks may be subject to inaccuracies as the result of sea-water alteration. Inaccuracies may also result from the presence of excess radiogenic 40Ar trapped in rapidly cooled rocks at the time of their formation. The results obtained for DSDP Leg 34 basalts indicate that lowering of K-Ar dates, which is related to potassium addition by weathering, is a major cause of uncertainty in obtaining reliable K-Ar dates for deep-sea rocks. It could not be determined if the potassium addition to the basalts occurred at the time of formation, t_o, or continuously from t_o to the present. Calculations show that sediment cover is not a significant barrier to the diffusion of potassium into the basalt. 40Ar loss contributes, at least in part, to the lowering of the K-Ar date in rocks that have added potassium. The meaning of the K-Ar results obtained for DSDP Legs 35 and 2 basalts could not be unambiguously established. Because of the problems involved, caution must be used in interpreting the meaning of conventional K-Ar dates for deep-sea rocks.

There is increasing evidence that the preceding Holocene climate was as unstable as the last glacial period, although variations occurred at much lower amplitudes. However, low-latitude climate records that confirm this variability are sparse. Here we present a radiocarbon-dated Holocene marine record from the tropical western Atlantic. Aragonite dissolution derived from the degree of preservation of the pteropod Limacina inflata records changes in the corrosiveness of the bottom water at the core site due to the changing influence of northern versus southern water masses. The delta18O difference between the shallow-living planktonic foraminifera Globigerinoides sacculifer and the deep-living Globorotalia tumida is used as proxy for changes in the vertical stratification of the surface water, hence the trade wind strength at this latitude. We compared our data to high-latitude records of the North Atlantic region. A good agreement is found between the aragonite dissolution and the strength in the Island-Scotland Overflow Water, which contributes significantly to the North Atlantic Deep Water. This suggests that large-scale variations in the Atlantic thermohaline circulation occurred throughout the Holocene. Concurrently, the comparison of our Delta delta18O with the GISP2 glaciochemical records points to global Holocene atmospheric reorganizations seen in both the tropics and high northern latitudes.
