Data on multidisciplinary research in the Tajura Rift (Gulf of Aden) during Cruise 7 of R/V Akademik Mstislav Keldysh in winter 1983-1984

In the collective monograph results of geological and geophysical studies in the Tadjura Rift carried out by conventional outboard instruments and from deep/sea manned submersibles "Pisces" in winter 1983-1984 are reported. Main features of rift tectonics, geology, petrology, and geochemistry of basalts from the rift are under consideration. An emphasis is made on lithology, stratigraphy, and geochemistry of bottom sediments. Roles of terrigenous, edafogenic, biogenic, and hydrothermal components in formation of bottom sediments from the rift zone are shown.

Night biomass of dominant mesozooplankton groups within the Bismark Polygon (Northeast Atlantic) in June 2001 and June-August 2002

Vertical zooplankton distribution at the northeastern periphery of the North Atlantic subtropical gyre was studied with the use of 113/140 BR nets and Mir manned submersibles. Vertical distribution of selected dominant taxonomic, ecological, and trophic groups was considered. Results were compared with data obtained at the same location in 2001 that allowed to estimate interannual variability of the planktonic community.

Composition of sediments, hydrothermal manifestations, interstitial waters, and aeolian material from the TAG Hydrothermal Field and Central Atlantic

The book is devoted to regularities of spatial distribution, mineralogy and geochemistry of hydrothermal and hydrothermal-sedimentary manifestations of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge rift zone.

Chemical element concentrations and speciations in bottom sediments from the Ob River mouth area

According to data from Cruise 54 of R/V Akademik Mstislav Keldysh (September 2007) results of geochemical studies of redox processes in bottom sediments from the Ob River mouth area as applied to redox indicator elements (such as manganese, iron, and sulfur) are presented. Parameters of bottom sediments and distribution of these elements evidence not only a significant role of mixing processes at an geochemical profile of bottom sediments in the estuary but also a role of postsedimentation (diagenetic) processes.
