Gastrinomas, a rare group of neuroendocrine tumors, are responsible for severe peptic disease and diarrhea. Although symptomatic control may be achieved with proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) and somatostatin analogues (SSAs), data are limited regarding the possible antitumor effect of the peptide receptor radioligand therapy (PRRT) with radiolabeled SSAs in gastrinoma patients. The goal of this study was to assess the effect of PRRT on symptoms, gastrin secretion, and tumor load in patients with progressive malignant gastrinomas.

Proximal humerus fractures (pHF) are common. In this retrospective study intra-operative and postoperative data and complications of patients stabilized with conventional semirigid techniques (pins, n=30; helix wire, n=19) or a novel semirigid technique, the intramedullary claw (IMC, n=82) were compared. The type and frequency of postoperative complications differed between the groups (p<0.001). The IMC is a novel semirigid technique to stabilize pHF and seems to result in fewer complications than pins or helix wire. The frequency and relevance of a loss of repositioning in patients after IMC implantation need to be elucidated in long-term studies.

Lumbopelvic distraction stabilization with (triangular osteosynthesis) or without additional iliosacral screw allows anatomic reduction of the posterior pelvic ring after severely displaced sacral fractures, correction or resection osteotomies of malunions, respectively, septic sacroiliitis and permits early weight bearing. However, this technique is complicated by wound necrosis or infection in up to 20% to 30%. We describe our experience with a less invasive technique.
