Die Bildungsexpansion in der Schweiz und ihre Folgen. Eine empirische Analyse des Wandels der Bildungsbeteiligung und Bildungsungleichheiten mit den Daten der Schweizer Volkszählungen 1970, 1980, 1990 und 2000

In this contribution the correlation of educational expansion and social inequality of educational opportunities (IEO) for social classes and gender has been investigated for Switzerland in the twentieth century. The empirical analysis is focused on the thesis of persistent inequalities claimed by Shavit and Blossfeld. For testing this thesis, data of the Swiss census in 1970, 1980, 1990, and 2000 has been utilized. First of all, it is found for Switzerland that the moderate educational expansion has been carried out by the succession of birth cohorts. Secondly, this process has led to decreasing IEO. However, after 1990, for the individuals younger than 22 years we have witnessed an increase of social inequalities in becoming eligible for university training. Overall, in favour of disadvantaged social classes, there is a decrease in IEO since the start of educational expansion in the 1950s. Therefore, the thesis of persistent inequalities has been not confirmed for Switzerland.

Sobre la base de un riguroso y sistemático análisis del dossier genético de la novela Paisajes después de la batalla (borradores autógrafos, recortes de prensa, sinopsis), conservado en la Diputación Provincial de Almería, Bénédicte Vauthier se adentra en el taller de escritura de Juan Goytisolo en un estudio genético verdaderamente pionero en las letras hispánicas contemporáneas peninsulares. Después de presentar el estado de los archivos y la peculiar manera de escribir de J. Goytisolo, B. Vauthier vuelve sobre la composición original de Paisajes después de la batalla, analiza cómo el autor incorporó estilísticamente el material ajeno que entró en la composición de la obra (recortes de prensa) o la informó implícita o explícitamente (intertextualidad de Gustave Flaubert, Walter Benjamin, Karl Kraus, Leila Sebbar, Lewis Carroll). Finalmente, en la óptica de una «poética de transición entre estados», B. Vauthier se interroga sobre el sentido de la supresión que Goytisolo operó en la nueva edición de su obra (2006), que se vuelve a publicar aquí respetando esta decisión de «poda». Teamwork reduces physiological stress in junior surgeons

Objective: The quality of teamwork depends not only on communication skills but also on team familiarity and hierarchical structures. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the physiological impact of close teamwork between senior and junior surgeons performing elective open abdominal surgery for six months in stable teams. Methods: Physiological measurements of the main and junior surgeons were taken in a total of 40 procedures. Cumulative stress was assessed by the mea- surements of urine catecholamines (Adrenaline, Noradrenaline, Dopamine, Metanephrine, Normetanephrine). Heart rate variability was measured to assess temporal aspects of stress. The procedures were observed by a trained team of work psychologists. Direct observations of distractors, team inter- actions and communication were performed. Specific questionnaires were filled by members of the surgical team that include surgeons, nurses and anesthetists. Results: In junior surgeons, physiological stress is reduced over a period of close collaboration. Case-related communication is not stressful. However, tension within the surgical team is associated with increased levels of cat- echolamine in the urine of the senior surgeon. The difficulty of the oper- ation impacts on heart-rate variability of the junior but not of the senior surgeon. Conclusion: Junior surgeons may require months of teamwork within one stable team in order to reduce levels of physiological stress. Senior surgeons are more resistant to stressful clinical situations compared to junior surgeons but are vulnerable to tension within the surgical team.

Adrian Leverkühns erste Zwölfton-Komposition, die Oper ›Love's Labour Lost‹, soll hier diskursgeschichtlich auf die Bedeutung hin befragt werden, die sie für die Zeitdiagnose und Gesellschaftskritik des ›Doktor Faustus‹ hat. Zu diesem Zweck wird erst das zugrunde gelegte Drama in der Geschichte der Shakespeare-Rezeption situiert, dann aber auch die Konzeptions-, Entstehungs- und Aufführungsgeschichte seiner Vertonung im Gender-Diskurs der Weimarer Republik rekontextualisiert.
