Mapuzungun has reduplicative structures based on elements other than verb stems that are of very limited productivity. With verb stems, however, several formal patterns can be distinguished, which consist of the repetition of the lexical verb stem plus the addition of an apparently grammaticalized version of one of three verb roots or a zero morpheme. The previous literature has attempted to identify form/function correlations for these more or less productive verbal reduplicative patterns, and the present paper contributes to the discussion by surveying older studies and exploring several cases that suggest that such form/function correspondences are substantially less straightforward than a casual observer might think.

We analyze the pion transition form factor using dispersion theory. We calculate the singly-virtual form factor in the time-like region based on data for the e+e−→3π cross section, generalizing previous studies on ω,ϕ→3π decays and γπ→ππ scattering, and verify our result by comparing to e+e−→π0γ data. We perform the analytic continuation to the space-like region, predicting the poorly-constrained space-like transition form factor below 1GeV, and extract the slope of the form factor at vanishing momentum transfer aπ=(30.7±0.6)×10−3. We derive the dispersive formalism necessary for the extension of these results to the doubly-virtual case, as required for the pion-pole contribution to hadronic light-by-light scattering in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

This article examines the issue of climate change in the context of ecocriticism. It analyzes some of the narrative forms employed in the mediation of climate change science, focusing on those used by mediators who are not themselves scientists in the transmission of scientific information to a nonspecialist readership or audience. It reviews four relevant works that combine the communication of scientific theories and facts with pedagogical and motivational impulses. These include David Guggenheimer’s documentary film An Inconvenient Truth, Fred Pearce’s book The Last Generation: How Nature Will Take Her Revenge for Climate Change and the climate change manuals The Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook and How to Save the Climate.

This study analyzed the influence of the occupational context on the conceptualization of career satisfaction measured by the career satisfaction scale (CSS). In a large sample of N ¼ 729 highly educated professionals, a cross-occupational (i.e., physicians, economists, engineers, and teachers) measurement invariance analysis showed that the CSS was conceptualized according to occupational group membership, that is, 4 of the 5 items of the scale showed measurement noninvariance. More specifically, the relative importance, the response biases, and the reliabilities associated with different career satisfaction content domains measured by the CSS (i.e., achieved success, overall career goals, goals for advancement, goals for income, and goals for development of new skills) varied by occupational context. However, results of a comparison between manifest and latent mean differences between the occupational groups revealed that the observed measurement noninvariance did not affect the estimation of mean differences.

The present research analyses the adequacy of the widely used Career Satisfaction Scale (CSS; Greenhaus, Parasuraman, & Wormley, 1990) for measuring change over time. We used data of a sample of 1,273 professionals over a 5-year time period. First, we tested longitudinal measurement invariance of the CSS. Second, we analysed changes in career satisfaction by means of multiple indicator latent growth modelling (MLGM). Results revealed that the CSS can be reliably used in mean change analyses. Altogether, career satisfaction was relatively stable over time; however, we found significant variance in intra-individual growth trajectories and a negative correlation between the initial level of and changes in career satisfaction. Professionals who were initially highly satisfied became less satisfied over time. Theoretical and practical implications with respect to the construct of career satisfaction and its development over time (i.e., alpha, beta, and gamma change) are discussed.

Chordoid glioma of the third ventricle is a rare neuroepithelial tumor characterized by a unique histomorphology and exclusive association with the suprasellar/third ventricular compartment. Variously interpreted as either astrocytic- or ependymal-like, and speculatively ascribed to the lamina terminalis/subcommissural organ, its histogenesis remains, nevertheless, unsettled. Here, we report on a suprasellar chordoid glioma occurring in a 52-year-old man. Although displaying otherwise typical morphological features, the tumor was notable for expression of thyroid transcription factor 1, a marker of tumors of pituicytic origin in the context of the sellar region. We furthermore found overlapping immunoprofiles of this example of chordoid glioma and pituicytic tumors (pituicytoma and spindle cell oncocytoma), respectively. Specifically, phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6, a marker of mTOR pathway activation, was expressed in both groups. Based on these findings, we suggest that chordoid glioma and pituicytic tumors may form part of a spectrum of lineage-related neoplasms of the basal forebrain.
