Le savoir des religions. Fragments d’historiographie religieuse

L’histoire des religions ne saurait se passer d’une réflexion préalable sur ses propres conditions d’élaboration. Qu’est-ce qu’un « savoir religieux », qu’est-ce qu’un savoir « sur le religieux », en quoi et comment se distinguent-ils l’un de l’autre ? Ce livre est issu d’une série de recherches et d’enquêtes portant sur des horizons historiques et culturels contrastés. Il montre comment un scribe mésopotamien, un philosophe grec, un clerc bouddhiste, un égyptologue contemporain, un historien des religions, etc, élaborent leurs savoirs, comment ces savoirs se transforment et se perpétuent, quelles fonctions ils remplissent, qui les met en oeuvre, où et comment ils s’enracinent, pourquoi ils meurent.

Norm and Anomaly in the Jewish Life of Jesus (Toledot Yeshu)

The Toledoth Yeshu, the “Generation,” or “Life of Jesus,” have been described as an anti-Gospel, or a parody of the Gospel. This protean tradition, witnessed in more than hundred manuscripts and printed editions, offers a “counter-history” of the life of Jesus and the origins of Christianity. According to this mischievous narrative Jesus was an illegitimate child turned charlatan, and his disciples a bunch of violent and senseless rogues who continued to stir up trouble in Israel even following their leader’s shameful hanging. The Toledoth Yeshu is the story of an anomaly (Jesus and the birth of Christianity). It is also a story about confusion: marital confusion, social confusion, and religious confusion. As an exercise in “historical imagination,” the Toledoth Yeshu offers a narrative of religions compared, and a reflection on social and religious borders, on their instability and fragility, and ultimately on their necessity. The present paper will explore the normative dimension of the Toledoth Yeshu tradition: the way the “disorder of things” the narrative relates also conveys a powerful discourse on social and religious norms. We will also seek to map this tradition in the broader context of medieval Jewish discussions on Jesus (particularly Maimonides) as a “case” in the religious history of mankind, addressing issues of false prophecy, religious deviation, transgression, and heresy.

Als sich der altkatholische Protest gegen die Dogmen des Ersten Vatikanischen Konzils von 1870 formierte, brachten die Altkatholiken ganz unterschiedliche Argumente vor: Zum Teil argumentierten sie juristisch, dem Konzil habe die nötige Freiheit in Diskussion und Entscheidung gefehlt; sie griffen die Stringenz der Schrift- und Traditionsargumente der Befürwortre der Dogmen an und versuchten zu zeiten, dass Schrift und Tradition eher eine gegenteilige Ansicht favorisieren würden; aber sie argumentierten auch politisch. Der Vortrag zeichnet diese unterschiedlichen Argumentationslinien nach.

Unfehlbarkeit – eine unerledigte Streitfrage

Die Unfehlbarkeit hat im altkatholischen Zusammenhang einen viel geringeren Stellenwert als die ekklesiologisch zentralere Primatsfrage. Es zeigt sich aber, dass selbst eine Lösung der Primatsfrage die Frage der Unfehlbarkeit noch nicht erledigt, da letztere auch eine wesentliche fundamentaltheologische Dimension hat. Fragen zum Dogmenbegriff, zum Kontextbezug und zur Unhintergehbarkeit von Dogmen, zur Dogmenentwicklung und –rezeption sowie allgemein zum theologischen Erkenntnisfortschritt müssen in diesem Zusammenhang stärker reflektiert werden.

"Altkatholische Identität - altkirchliche Identität"? Ein Workshopbericht

Reference to the Ancient Church is an important aspect of Old Catholic identity. This includes reference to particular doctrinal decisions of Ecumenical Councils as well as to the conciliar ecclesiology that made these decisions possible. Four different functions of the reference to the Ancient Church are presented: self legitimation in a controversial context, common ground in an ecumenical context, a source of reforms and ascertaining one’s identity. Legitimating the Ancient Church as a normative source for today’s theology is far from trivial. The ecumenical character of the Ancient Church, its conciliar principle, the paradigmatic and fundamental character of its decisions may serve as such legitimations.

Berufung auf Alte Kirche

Der Vortrag zeigt, wie sich die altkatholische Gründergeneration im 19. Jahhundert in unterschiedlichen Kontexten und mit unterschiedlicher Zielsetzung auf Alte Kirche berufen hat. Dabei wird vor allem auf die Münchner Pfingsterklärung und das Münchner Programm (beide 1871) sowie auf die erste Bonner Unionskonferenz (1875) Bezug genommen.

Einführung zu den Dialogtexten Altkatholische Kirchen der Utrechter Union – Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar

2011 bis 2014 arbeitete eine gemischte Dialogkommission der Altkatholischen Kirchen der Utrechter Union und der Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar. Sie erarbeitete drei Erklärungen zu Handen der Bischofskonferenzen der beiden Kirchen. Der vorliegende Beitrag bildet eine Einführung in diese Erklärungen aus christkatholischer Sicht. Er wird der Nationalsynode der Christkatholischen Kirche der Schweiz, die im Juni 2015 tagt, vorgelegt, und ggf. im WWW veröffentlicht.
