The concern of this work is to present the characterization of blue emitting GaN-based LED structures by means of Atomic Force Microscopy. Here we show a comparison among the samples with different dislocation densities, in order to understand how the dislocations can affect the surface morphology. First of all we have described the current state of art of the LEDs in the present market. Thereafterwards we have mentioned in detail about the growth technique of LED structures and the methodology of the characterization employed in our thesis. Finally, we have presented the details of the results obtained on our samples studied, followed by discussions and conclusions.

Incorporation of the relevant monosaccharide N-Acetyl-D-glucosamine (GlcNAc) into synthetic oligosaccharides by chemical glycosylation is still a very challenging object of studies, since direct reactions are low yielding. This issue is generally ascribed to its low solubility in common solvents and to the formation of a poorly reactive oxazoline intermediate, which is typically bypassed by introducing extra synthetic steps to avoid the presence of the NHAc moiety during glycosylation. Recently, a new direct Lewis acids-catalysed GlcNAc-ylation protocol has been disclosed, with acylated donors appearing to hold potential for high yielding glycosylation reactions. This master project focused indeed on a novel synthesis of promising 1-acyl GlcNAc donors, in order to test them in direct Lewis acid catalysed glycosylation without the need of N-protecting groups. Screening of various Lewis acids and reaction conditions with these acylated donors has been carried out, in presence of reactive primary alcohols as well as more challenging carbohydrate acceptor alcohols. These experiments demonstrated that the fine tuning of the leaving group combined with a suitable metal triflate could lead to a successful reaction outcome in the direct glycosylation. Successful methodology of this kind would provide rapid access to naturally occurring N-glycan motifs, such as the highly relevant human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs).

Augmented reality has been growing extensively over the years in all aspects and multiple fields. My aim in this paper is to present a comprehensive study on augmented reality(AR) hardware and its applications from early developments to the possible future trends. Particularly my research is more focused on last 11 years(2012-2022), where I systematically reviewed 30 research papers per year to get a clear knowledge on trends of AR. A total of 330 publications were reviewed and grouped according to their application. The review's main contribution is to show the entire landscape of AR research and to provide a broad view of how it has evolved. Along with various AR glasses history and specifications are presented in detail. In the penultimate chapter I explained my methodology of research following my analysis from the past to the present along with my thoughts for the future. To conclude my study, In the final chapter I made some statements about possible future with AR, VR and XR(extended reality).
