Il linguaggio della violenza: Il peso che ha la lingua su cultura e genere

Questa tesi è un'analisi del linguaggio in relazione alle questioni di genere, con un focus finale sulla rappresentazione dei femminicidi da parte delle testate giornalistiche italiane, diviso in quattro parti. Il primo capitolo è sull'origine della misoginia in Occidente. Il secondo parla della Critical Discourse Analysis, un approccio all'analisi critica del discorso che fa capire quanto il linguaggio influenzi la società e possa essere usato per farlo. Il terzo capitolo parla dell'intreccio tra lingua e ideologia, la prima parte si focalizza sulla linguistica e la seconda sul sessismo della lingua italiana. La quarta parte è un'analisi del linguaggio di molti articoli di giornale dell'anno 2016 su due casi di femminicidio in Italia, in particolare sulle rappresentazioni (che risultano stereotipate) di vittime e carnefici.

Shyam Selvadurai's Funny Boy: a critical analysis

In this work, I will try to provide an insightful and accessible analysis of Funny Boy, a coming-of-age novel by Sri Lankan Canadian author Shyam Selvadurai. I will provide a brief biography of the author and a concise outline of the historical context. Subsequently, after discussing the novel's structure and its main characteristics, I will proceed to analyze the significance of the novel's title and the role played by ethnicity and sexuality as equivalent sources of alienation, both individually and through their combined agency. To that end, I will focus on what I consider to be the most salient episodes of the novel that, in my opinion, best exemplify the sense of alienation that any individual belonging to a minority group experiences at some point in their lives in mainstream society.

Analysis, modelling and design of a groin as coastal protection structure at Lido di Dante, Ravenna

An analysis and a subsequent solution is here presented. This document is about a groin design able to contrast the erosion actions given by waves in Lido di Dante. Advantages will be visible also for Fiumi Uniti's inlet, in the north side of the shoreline. Beach future progression and growth will be subjected to monitoring actions in the years after groin construction. The resulting effects of the design will have a positive impact not only on the local fauna and environment, but also, a naturalistic appeal will increase making new type of tourists coming not only for recreational purposes. The design phase is focused on possible design alternatives and their features. Particular interest is given to scouring phenomena all around the groin after its construction. Groin effects will impact not only on its south side, instead they will cause an intense erosion process on the downdrift front. Here, many fishing hut would be in danger, thus a beach revetment structure is needed to avoid any future criticality. In addiction, a numerical model based on a generalized shoreline change numerical model, also known as GENESIS, has been applied to the study area in order to perform a simplistic analysis of the shoreline and its future morphology. Critical zones are visible in proximity of the Fiumi Uniti's river inlet, where currents from the sea and the river itself start the erosion process that is affecting Lido di Dante since mid '80s, or even before. The model is affected by several assumptions that make results not to be interpreted as a real future trend of the shore. Instead the model allows the user to have a more clear view about critical processes induced by monochromatic inputed waves. In conclusion, the thesis introduce a wide analysis on a complex erosion process that is affecting many shoreline nowadays. A groin design is seen as a hard solution it is considered to be the only means able to decrease the rate of erosion.

Development of a framework for the analysis of document-based phishing campaigns

In questo elaborato di tesi si affronta lo sviluppo di un framework per l'analisi di URL di phishing estratte da documenti malevoli. Tramite il linguaggio python3 e browsers automatizzati si è sviluppata una pipeline per analizzare queste campagne malevole. La pipeline ha lo scopo di arrivare alla pagina finale, evitando di essere bloccata da tecniche anti-bot di cloaking, per catturare una schermata e salvare la pagina in locale. Durante l'analisi tutto il traffico è salvato per analisi future. Ad ogni URL visitato vengono salvate informazioni quali entry DNS, codice di Autonomous System e lo stato nella blocklist di Google. Un'analisi iniziale delle due campagne più estese è stata effettuata, rivelando il business model dietro ad esse e le tecniche usate per proteggere l'infrastruttura stessa.

Multi-scalar critical theories: first steps for a non perturbative functional renormalization group analysis

In this work the fundamental ideas to study properties of QFTs with the functional Renormalization Group are presented and some examples illustrated. First the Wetterich equation for the effective average action and its flow in the local potential approximation (LPA) for a single scalar field is derived. This case is considered to illustrate some techniques used to solve the RG fixed point equation and study the properties of the critical theories in D dimensions. In particular the shooting methods for the ODE equation for the fixed point potential as well as the approach which studies a polynomial truncation with a finite number of couplings, which is convenient to study the critical exponents. We then study novel cases related to multi field scalar theories, deriving the flow equations for the LPA truncation, both without assuming any global symmetry and also specialising to cases with a given symmetry, using truncations based on polynomials of the symmetry invariants. This is used to study possible non perturbative solutions of critical theories which are extensions of known perturbative results, obtained in the epsilon expansion below the upper critical dimension.
