[EN]Three chemical methods for induction of relaxation in H. tuberculata coccinea (50-80mm shell length) were tested: sodium pentobarbital (60mg/l), 2-phenoxyethanol (2ml/l) and clove oil at three concentrations (0.02, 0.05 and 0,5ml/l). The time taken for animals to release from aquaria walls and recover from the anaesthetics was recorded. No mortality was observed after one week from experiment. All anaesthetics made animals release from container walls within 10-30 min, but they were ineffective as muscle relaxants, leaving the foot hard and contracted. The most effective concentration tested for clove oil was 0,5ml/l at 22ºC.

[EN]The present work evaluates, on one hand, two anaesthetic agents to facilitate octopus handling concluding that a 1.5% of ethanol (96%) in sea water (22ºC) shows rapid anaesthetic-recovery time, indicating its suitability for this species. On the other hand, a protocol for implanting Octopus vulgaris with subcutaneous PIT tags is established and after 10 weeks a 94% retention was found with 100% survival. Retention rises to 98,6% when tagging animals weighing more than 500 g.

[EN]Seahorses husbandry constitute an innovative aspect on the recovery of wild populations. In this study, two aeration levels were tested (normal and strong) in seahorse juveniles fed on Artemia. Survival and growth were evaluated. The results showed higher survivals (11% average) with strong aerations levels after 90 days. In addition, these juveniles were able to reproduce after 4 months, denoting the early sexual maturation of this species. However, sizes of second-generation larvae at day 0 were smaller compared with those produced by their parents

[EN]The present work pretends to be the first step towards the development of a commercial diet for Octopus vulgaris. A one month experiment evaluated growth on two treatments, a wet experimental diet and a control (bogue), obtaining a daily growth rate of 1,6 and 16 g/day respectively. Octopuses were tagged and a better growth tendency was found in middle size animals in each experimental tank

[EN] The effect of Amyloodinium sp. infection in early larval stages of Sparus aurata larvae rearing under Mesocosm technique in pilot scale facilities at Instituto Canario de Ciencias Marinas, the treatments tried are described in this study. The level of infection was different in the three performed trials and the succeed of the different treatments is discussed. The source of the parasite is not yet clarified and some recommendations are made for future rearing trials at commercial scale are given.

[EN] Paralarval rearing constitutes the main bottleneck to the complete development of octopus culture. This paper try to optimise the larval rearing conditions of Octopus Paralarvae, testing the effect of light intensity (1000, 3000 and 6000 lux ) over growth and paralarval survival. Four fibber glass tanks, 100 litter capacity with an initial density of 20 ind./litter were used for each treatment. All light treatments were fed with the same protocol, just hatching Maja Squinado Zoeas and Artemia metanaulios (72 hours)enriched with a commercial emulsion (Red Pepper Paste, Bernaqua, bva; Belgium). Better growth and survival were found with the highest light intensity treatment.

[EN]In the present study, natural spawning of a broodstock group of greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili) is described with regards to: date, number of spawns, and total number of eggs produced per spawn. Fish werecaught in 2011 in the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), and kept in captivity. At the end of May 2014, the broodstock group was formed by two females with a weight 9.81±1.08 kg, size 90.0±2.82cm, with oovocites > 800μ, and five males 9.46±2.04 kg, 86.75±5.43 cm, all fluent with sperm. Between the 1stof June and 18thof October 2014, a total of 25.60 million eggs were obtained in 23 spawns.
