Análise da produtividade científica dos docentes da Universidade Estadual Paulista, campus de Marília/SP

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi analisar/quantificar a produtividade científica dos docentes pertencentes à Universidade de Estadual Paulista (UNESP), campus de Marília/SP. Para cada professor, analisamos o número total de artigos na plataforma Lattes, no ISI Web of Science e no SCOPUS. Além disso, verificamos o total de livros publicados, capítulos de livros publicados e orientações em Programas de Pós-Graduação (PPG). A análise dos nove departamentos da Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências (FFC) mostrou que o Departamento de Ciências Políticas e Econômicas possui uma média elevada (21,42) de artigos na Plataforma Lattes, quando comparado aos outros departamentos. Entretanto, o Departamento de Fonoaudiologia apresentou médias mais altas em artigos indexados pelo ISI (2,61) e SCOPUS (4,39), bem como o índice-h, nessas plataformas. em relação aos programas de pós-graduação, o Departamento de Administração e Supervisão Escolar foi o que apresentou a maior média de orientações em andamento e/ou concluídas. O desempenho mais baixo, em relação aos artigos publicados pelo ISI e SCOPUS, pelos departamentos na área de Humanas/Humanidades pode estar associado às características do campo da concentração e da cobertura limitada do banco de dados ISI e SCOPUS, indicando que o índice-h é muito sensível ao campo de concentração.

Produção científica na faculdade de filosofia, ciencias e letras de ribeirao preto-usp: Apliçãcao do índice de hirsch

In this work, an analysis of scientific bibliographic productivity was made using the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciencias e Letras de Ribeirao Preto, Universidade de Sao Paulo (FFCLRP-USP) as example. It is a special Institution in the Brazilian University system which encompasses four important areas of knowledge (fields of concentration) in natural, biological, humanities, and social areas. It is composed by four departments which offer altogether eight undergraduate courses: 1) Psychology, 2) Pedagogy, 3) Chemistry, 4) Biology, 5) Medical Physics, 6) Biomedical Informatics, 7) Sciences of Information and Documentation and 8) Mathematics Applied to Business and six graduate programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Moreover, when analyzing the different courses of FFCLRP, they represent typical academic organization in Brazil and Latin America and could be taken as a model for analyzing other Brazilian research institutions. This analysis was made using: 1) the total number of papers (indexed in Curriculum Lattes database), 2) the number of papers indexed by Thomson ISI Web of Science database, and 3) the Hirsch (h-index). Bibliometric evaluations of undergraduate courses showed a better performance of the courses of Chemistry (P < 0.05), Biology (P < 0.05) and Medical Physics (P < 0.05) when compared to the Pedagogy, Sciences of Information and Documentation (P < 0.05) and Psychology (P < 0.05). We also analyzed the scientific output of the six graduate programs of FFCLRP-USP: 1) Chemistry, 2) Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology, 3) Entomology, 4) Compared Biology, 5) Psychology, 6) Psychobiology. The graduate programs in Psychobiology, Chemistry, Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology, Compared Biology, and Entomology presented very similar results, concerning the assessment of the three indexes. The graduate program in Psychology presented a lower h-index (P < 0.05) and had fewer papers indexed by the ISI (P < 0.05) when compared to the other graduate programs. The worse performance of the psychology program, pedagogy, sciences of information and documentation, psychology courses may be associated to the limited coverage of ISI database and some particular characteristics of this field of concentration.

A medical information system to manage a cancer database

Cancer is the second main cause of death in Brazil, and according to statistics disclosed by INCA - National Cancer Institute 466,730 new cases of the disease are forecast for 2008. The storage and analysis of tumour tissues of various types and patients' clinical data, genetic profiles, characteristics of diseases and epidemiological data may provide more precise diagnoses, providing more effective treatments with higher chances for the cure of cancer. In this paper we present a Web system with a client-server architecture, which manages a relational database containing all information relating to the tumour tissue and their location in freezers, patients, medical forms, physicians, users, and others. Furthermore, it is also discussed the software engineering used to developing the system.

Development of a natural products database from the biodiversity of Brazil

We describe herein the design and development of an innovative tool called the NuBBE database (NuBBEDB), a new Web-based database, which incorporates several classes of secondary metabolites and derivatives from the biodiversity of Brazil. This natural product database incorporates botanical, chemical, pharmacological, and toxicological compound information. The NuBBEDB provides specialized information to the worldwide scientific community and can serve as a useful tool for studies on the multidisciplinary interfaces related to chemistry and biology, including virtual screening, dereplication, metabolomics, and medicinal chemistry. This project brings the development of an Android application which will allow users to access 3D models on web. The application developed allows Android devices to access web pages which have code that should use OPENGL to renderize. To demonstrate this functionality, an example web application was build, using technologies such as X3DOM and HTML5, which uses WebGL to get renderized. This web application gives to the user an environment of a virtual city, where he could surf by and interact with the objects. The Android application brings this immersion to the mobile world, also. The access and storage of data was developed a Webserver, which bring to the web application a simple API to give access to the database

Websislapam: sistema de avaliações de pessoas baseado em tecnologias WEB

This work, entitled Websislapam: People Rating System Based on Web Technologies, allows the creation of questionnaires, and the organization of entities and people who participate in evaluations. Entities collect data from people with the help of resources that reduce typing mistakes. The Websislapam maintains a database and provides graphical reporting, which enable the analysis of those tested. Developed using Web technologies such as PHP, Javascript, CSS, and others. Developed with the paradigm of object-oriented programming and the MySQL DBMS. For the theoretical basis, research in the areas of System Database, Web Technologies and Web Engineering were performed. It was determined the evaluation process, systems and Web-based applications, Web and System Engineering Database. Technologies applied in the implementation of Websislapam been described. In a separate chapter presented the main features and artifacts used in the development of Websislapam. A case study demonstrates the practical use of the system

Classificação de workflows baseados em web services

Over the last decades changes have occurred in communication within and between enterprises, made easier by technologies suchas E-commerce, Internet, ERP systems and remote meetings and there was a rapid progress in network technology, which has changed the way business is done. A standardized way to offer services over the internet is using web services. Web services are a kind of remote procedure call and are generally used to integrate systems, independent of language, both client and server. It is common to use several web services run in sequence to perform a business process. To this type of process, gives the name of workflow. Thus, Web services are the primary components of workflows. A tool that provides a way of visualizing the behavior of a workflow can assist the administrator and is required. The present work presents the development of a tool that allows the administrator to classify visually services components and evaluate their importance in the final performance of a workflow. As proof of concept we used several virtual servers and computers where each computer has received a set of web services. A proxy was added between each call of workflows collecting relevant information and storing them in a database for later analysis. The analysis was based on Quality of Service parameters

This project proposes the development of online support system to a game designed for mobile devices, consisting of a website and a database which has the function of storing data online beyond a system called the back end which has the function to integrate all the modules mentioned previously
