O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a qualidade global da dieta e a adequação do consumo de cada componente da dieta de adolescentes segundo fatores demográficos, socioeconômicos e índice de massa corporal (IMC). Trata-se de estudo transversal, de base populacional, que analisou amostra representativa de 409 adolescentes, de 12 a 19 anos, utilizando o Índice de Qualidade da Dieta (IQD). Foram estimadas as prevalências de dietas classificadas no 1º quartil do IQD e as médias de escores de cada componente do IQD. Regressões múltiplas linear e de Poisson foram utilizadas nas análises. O escore médio do IQD foi de 59,7. Observou-se menor prevalência de dietas inadequadas no segmento de melhor escolaridade do chefe da família. Os estratos de menor nível socioeconômico, avaliados por renda e escolaridade, mostram um consumo inferior de verduras e legumes, frutas, leite e derivados e menor variedade da dieta e uma ingestão superior de cereais e derivados e leguminosas. Adolescentes com sobrepeso/obesidade consomem mais carnes e ovos e menos frutas comparados aos que apresentam baixo peso/eutrofia. As meninas tiveram maior ingestão de gordura total e menor ingestão de sódio. Os resultados identificam os componentes que merecem atenção nas estratégias de promoção de alimentação saudável e os segmentos mais vulneráveis à má alimentação.

Thirty-three feedlot cattle nutritionists were surveyed to evaluate the management practices and nutritional recommendations adopted by feedlots in Brazil. The web-based survey consisted of 81 questions that included: general information (n = 10); general commodity information (n = 15); use of coproducts (n = 5), roughage source and level (n = 5); adaptation methods (n = 7); feed mixers (n = 6); feeding management (n = 6); cattle management and type of cattle fed (n = 13); formulation practices (n = 9); information resources used for nutritional recommendations (n = 2); and additional questions (n = 3). In total, the 33 nutritionists were responsible for approximately 2,658,000 animals, and moreover, 65.5% of those participants had clients that feed less than 5000 animals yearly. Corn was the primary source of grain used in feedlot diets (87.9%) and cracking was the primary processing method recommended by nutritionists (57.6%). The average concentrate and roughage inclusion in finishing diets was 79.0% and 21.0%, respectively. The main challenges faced by nutritionists are the lack of available and precise equipment and lack of trained employees with respiratory diseases as the main health problem. This survey of nutrition and management practices should aid in the development of research for the feedlot industry in Brazil and similar tropical climates, as well as provide data to facilitate the broader application of future NRC models. Pancreatitis is a rare and a life-threatening SLE manifestation in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (c-SLE). The objective of this study was to systematically classify pancreatitis in c-SLE according to the International Study Group of Pediatric Pancreatitis (INSPPIRE) and determine the overall prevalence, clinical features, laboratory and first episode outcomes. A multicenter cohort study in 10 Pediatric Rheumatology centers, including 852 cSLE patients. Pancreatitis was diagnosed in 22/852 (2.6%) cSLE patients. It was classified as acute pancreatitis in 20 (91%), acute recurrent pancreatitis in 2 (9%) and none of them had chronic pancreatitis. None of them had gallstones, traumatic pancreatitis or reported alcohol/tobacco use. The comparison of patients with pancreatitis (first episode) and without this complication revealed a shorter disease duration [1(0-10) vs. 4(0-23) years, p < 0.0001] and higher median of SLEDAI-2K [21(0-41) vs. 2(0-45), p < 0.0001]. The frequencies of fever (p < 0.0001), weight loss (p < 0.0001), serositis (p < 0.0001), nephritis (p < 0.0001), arterial hypertension (p < 0.0001), acute renal failure (p < 0.0001), macrophage activation syndrome (p < 0.0001) and death (p = 0.001) were also higher in patients with pancreatitis. The frequencies of intravenous methylprednisolone use (p < 0.0001) and the median of prednisone dose [55(15-60) vs. 11(1-90)mg/day, p < 0.0001] were significantly higher in patients with pancreatitis. Of note, the two patients with acute recurrent pancreatitis had two episodes, with pain-free interval of 1 and 4 years. This was the first study characterizing pancreatitis using the INSPPIRE standardized definitions in patients with cSLE showing that the predominant form is acute pancreatitis seen in association with glucocorticoid treatment and active severe disease.
