The classical and quantum algebras of a class of conformal NA-Toda models are studied. It is shown that the SL(2,R)(q) Poisson brackets algebra generated by certain chiral and antichiral charges of the nonlocal currents and the global U(1) charge appears as an algebra of the symmetries of these models. 2-Keto-3-deoxy-6-phosphogluconate (KDPG) aldolase from Pseudomonas putida is a key enzyme in the Entner-Doudoroff pathway which catalyses the cleavage of KDPG via a class I Schiff-base mechanism. The crystal structure of this enzyme has been refined to a crystallographic residual R = 17.1% (R-free = 21.4%). The N-terminal helix caps one side of the torus of the (betaalpha)(8)-barrel and the active site is located on the opposite, carboxylic side of the barrel. The Schiff-base-forming Lys145 is coordinated by a sulfate (or phosphate) ion and two solvent water molecules. The interactions that stabilize the trimer are predominantly hydrophobic, with the exception of the cyclically permuted bonds formed between Glu132 OE1 of one molecule and Thr129 OG1 of a symmetry-equivalent molecule. Except for the N-terminal helix, the structure of KDPG aldolase from P. putida closely resembles the structure of the homologous enzyme from Escherichia coli.

Undoped x center dot alpha-Fe(2)O(3) y center dot CeO(2) and doped with praseodymium ceramic pigments were obtained by the sol-gel method after heat treatment at 800 degrees C for 2 h. These pigments were characterized by XRD, nitrogen adsorption, scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy and colorimetrical measurements. Red and brown colors with several tonalities were observed after changes with Ce and Pr concentration.

Tellurium tetrachloride adds to alkynes via two pathways: a concerted syn addition, that yields Z-tri- and tetra-substituted alkenes or by an anti addition that yields E-alkenes. The mechanistic aspects of these divergent pathways have been reevaluated at the light of crystallographic data. The molecules, of the title compound, in the crystal, are associated in a helical fashion with a Te...Te pitch of 6.3492(6) angstrom. As it exhibits inhibitory activity for cathepsin B and in order to gain more insight of the inhibition mechanism, a docking study was undertaken providing insight on why organic telluranes are more efficient inhibitors than inorganic ones as AS-101. The SU(2) Shyrme model, expanding in the collective coordinates variables, gives rise to second-class constraints. Recently this system was embedded in a more general Abelian gauge theory using the BFFT Hamiltonian method. in this work we quantize this gauge theory computing the Noether current anomaly using for this two different methods: an operatorial Dirac first class formalism and the non-local BV quantization coupled with the Fujikawa regularization procedure. Investigation of invariant cross-sections for production of K*- and K*0, in the fragmentation region of the proton, in p - p and γ - p reactions, gives a direct and unambiguous probe to the symmetry breaking of the nucleon sea. Based on existing data, we clearly found a large asymmetry of the sea. Our result is in excellent agreement with NA51 measurement, signaling lack of any nuclear effect. The measurement can be carried out in a single experimental set up. The ratio K*-/K*0 is equivalent to ū/d̄, with easy access to the x-dependence of the asymmetry. The observed asymmetry from available experimental data is used to improve the valon-recombination model. © 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

Three pig genetics lineages A, B and C marketed in Brazil, were stunning with the manual electric stunning (Karl Schermer 220-230/250 volts, 45-60 Hz and 1.4 - 1.5 A) and the collective gaseous system (COMBI-BUTINA 90% CO 2). The electric stunning provided higher blood splashed levels in the areas of the inside round (0.477 and 0.26, p ≤ 0.01), shoulder/cranial (0.154 and 0.039, p ≤ 0.005), shoulder/central (0.261 e 0.052, p ≤ 0.001), shoulder/caudal (0.180 and 0.030, p ≤ 0.01), loin/central (0.185 and 0.065, p ≤ 0.01), loin/caudal (0.06 and 0.207, p ≤ 0.01) and loin/lateral external (0.061 and 0.013, p ≤ 0.05), as well as more diffuse blood splashed in the areas of the inside round (0.461 and 0.279, p ≤ 0.05), shoulder/cranial (0.154 and 0.039, p ≤ 0.001), shoulder/central (0.231 and 0.039, p ≤ 0.001) and shoulder/caudal (0.185 and 0.026, p ≤ 0.001). The electric stunning also provided higher skin damage levels in the areas of the shoulder (1.098 and 0.795, p ≤ 0.001), body (1.04 and 0.948, p ≤ 0.05) and ham (0.84 and 0.68, p ≤ 0.001), as well as higher eyelid reflex levels (11.57%) comparatively to the gaseous system (2.86%) of a total of 426 pigs. Small indexes of bone fractures and muscle bruises were found in both systems.

We investigate the dissipative real-time evolution of the order parameter for the deconfining transition in the pure SU(2) gauge theory. The approach to equilibrium after a quench to temperatures well above the critical one is described by a Langevin equation. To fix completely the Markovian Langevin dynamics we choose the dissipation coefficient, that is a function of the temperature, guided by preliminary Monte Carlo simulations for various temperatures. Assuming a relationship between Monte Carlo time and real time, we estimate the delay in thermalization brought about by dissipation and noise. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

A search for supersymmetry in final states with jets and missing transverse energy is performed in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=7 TeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.98 fb-1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. In this search, a dimensionless kinematic variable, α T, is used as the main discriminator between events with genuine and misreconstructed missing transverse energy. The search is performed in a signal region that is binned in the scalar sum of the transverse energy of jets and the number of jets identified as originating from a bottom quark. No excess of events over the standard model expectation is found. Exclusion limits are set in the parameter space of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model, and also in simplified models, with a special emphasis on compressed spectra and third-generation scenarios.[Figure not available: see fulltext.] © 2013 CERN for the benefit of the CMS Collaboration.
