This paper aims to review the concept of Festival in the area of Public Relations and discuss about it according to the Classical Anthropology, Urban Anthropology and Public Relations theories, by their main exponents Emile Durkhein, Rita Amaral, Roberto Damatta and Joseph Guilherme Magnani, Waldemar Kunsch, Margarida Kunsch, Cicilia Peruzzo, Rennan Mafra and Márcio Simeone. The 33rd Vila Madalena Fair, a craft fair that takes place once a year in São Paulo, was chosen as a case study to provide this research with an empirical dimension. The Fair emerged as a result of the neighborhood residents and merchants´ mobilization in the late 70's and until today, has been responsible for the re-updating and the strengthening of the neighborhood identity. Thus, the proposal is to evaluate the possibilities of the Festival performance as a favorable strategy to sociability, to the strengthening and the re-updating the symbolic representations of a community

Report some of the changes in production and consumption occurring in the state of São Paulo. through the restructuring in motion systems, logistics and standards and taxation, as well as the impacts on urban spaces through new economic dynamics, imposed by the demands of corporate, is the purpose of this article. The decentralization of production and consumption towards the interior was made possible by the combination of hierarchical and ordered some basic elements such as technological innovations (ways and means of transport) and organizational (logistics, standards and taxation) which optimized the flow territorial state São Paulo. It is noteworthy, therefore: 1) the improvement of logistics as a strategy, planning and management of transport, storage and communications (including the granting of public services to private), 2) the technological improvement and expansion of motion systems (infrastructure, means of transport) and 3) the systems of rules and regulations through taxation and deregulation affect the circulatory system of a given space. Thus, both systems aims to disentangle the economic flows (goods, services, information, capital and people) and provide a more fluid territorial. The impacts on the State of São Paulo, mainly through its economic dynamics, revert positively and negatively, by changing the way one thinks and performs planning.

The graffiti is a calligraphic inscription or a drawn painted or engraved over a supported not normally used for this purpose. This artistic manifestation has been gaining more notoriety as an element of expression, reflection and actuation in the urban environment, since it is present in the streets and public ways reaching many observers with different repertoires and looks. This recent movement in Brazil has its first records in the early 80’s, but it is noteworthy that this event continues in an emergence process, consolidating increasingly as an artistic movement, in broad development, elaborating new technics, readjust and re-signifying its elements, re-improving and generating different values for the spaces. With the purpose to map the graffiti artists in Bauru/SP – Brazil, it was done an ethnography that allows to point some specific local characteristics; the relation between the artist and the city, and; the relation between the townsman and the graffiti.

Syngonanthus elegans flowers are distributed in capitula whose involucral bracts open and close in a diurnal rhythm. The anatomy of these bracts was studied to understand how such movements occur and how it influences reproductive ecology of the species. The involucral bracts have a single layered epidermis composed of thick-walled cells on the abaxial surface, which are responsible for the movement. Since they are hygroscopic, these cells swell when they absorb water from the surrounding environment, causing the bracts to bend and the capitula to close. In natural conditions, the capitula open by day, when temperature increases and the relative air humidity decreases, and close at night, when temperature decreases and the relative air humidity increases. The involucral bracts may thus protect the flowers from abiotic factors, exposing them only at the time of the day when temperature is higher and insects are more active, favoring pollination by small insects. The closed capitula do not only protect the flowers, but they also function as a shelter for floral visitors as Brachiacantha australe (Coccinellidae) and Eumolpini sp. (Chrysomelidae). These small Coleoptera pollinate the flowers of S. elegans during the day and remain within the closed capitula during the night, in a possible mutualistic relationship. (C) 2008 Elsevier GmbH. In previous research in Brazil, we tested the hypothesis that cultural consonance is associated with arterial blood pressure. Cultural consonance is the degree to which individuals are able to approximate in their own behaviors the prototypes for behavior encoded in shared cultural models. Individuals who had higher cultural consonance in the domains of lifestyle and social support had lower blood pressures. The aim of the current research was to replicate and extend these findings. First, a more extensive cultural domain analysis was carried out, improving the description of cultural models. Second, more sensitive measures of cultural consonance were developed. Third, data were collected in the same community studied previously. The following findings emerged: (a) cultural domain analysis (using a mix of quantitative and qualitative techniques) indicated that cultural models for these domains are widely shared within the community; (b) the associations of cultural consonance in these domains with arterial blood pressure were replicated; and, (c) the pattern of the associations differed slightly from that observed in earlier research. This pattern of associations can be understood in terms of macrosocial influences over the past ten years. The results support the importance of long-term fieldwork in anthropology.
