Atividade amilolítica e qualidade fisiológica de sementes armazenadas de milho super doce tratadas com ácido giberélico

O uso de reguladores de crescimento na fase de germinação melhora o desempenho das plântulas, acelerando a velocidade de emergência e realçando o potencial das sementes de várias espécies, mesmo sob condições adversas. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a influência do ácido giberélico na atividade amilolítica e no vigor de sementes armazenadas de milho super doce. O experimento foi conduzido nos Laboratórios de Análise de Sementes do Departamento de Produção Vegetal/FCA e no Laboratório de Bioquímica de Plantas do Departamento de Química e Bioquímica/IB da Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP/Botucatu), entre os meses de julho e setembro de 2001, onde foram feitas as avaliações da qualidade fisiológica, através dos testes de germinação, vigor e bioquímicos. Sementes de milho super doce da cultivar DO-04, foram acondicionadas em sacos de papel e armazenadas por oito meses em câmara seca (40% UR). Após este período, foram colocadas para germinar em rolos de papel toalha, embebidos com GA3 nas concentrações zero; 50; 100; 150 e 200mg.L-1. Foram avaliadas a germinação, vigor e atividade amilolítica das sementes. As sementes submetidas à pré-embebição em solução de 50mg.L-1 de ácido giberélico, apresentaram maior germinação e vigor, menor teor de proteínas totais e maior atividade amilolítica.

Lateral hypothalamus lesions influences water and salt intake, and sodium and urine excretion, and arterial blood pressure induced by L-NAME and FK 409 injections into median preoptic nucleus in conscious rats

Male Holtzman rats weighting 200-250 g were anesthetized with zoletil 50 mg/Kg (tiletamine chloridrate 125,0 mg and zolazepan chloridrate 125,0 mg) into quadriceps muscle and submitted an electrolytic lesion of the lateral hypothalamus (LH) and a stainless steel cannula was implanted into their median preoptic nucleus (MnPO). We investigated the effects of the injection into the (MnPO) of FK 409 (20 mug/0.5 mul), a nitric oxide (NO) donor, and N-W-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) 40 mug/0.5 mul, a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor (NOSI), on the water and sodium appetite and the natriuretic, diuretic and cardiovascular effects induced by injection of L-NAME and FK 409 injected into MnPO in rats with LH lesions. Controls were injected with a similar volume of 0.15 M NaCl. L-NAME injected into MnPO produced an increase in water and sodium intake and in sodium and urine excretion and increase de mean arterial pressure (MAP). FK 409 injected into MnPO did not produce any change in the hydro electrolytic and cardiovascular parameters in LH-sham and lesioned rats. FK 409 injected before L-NAME attenuated its effects. These data show that electrolytic lesion of the LH reduces fluid and sodium intake as well as sodium and urine excretion, and the pressor effect induced by L-NAME. LH involvement with NO of the MnPO excitatory and inhibitory mechanisms related to water and sodium intake, sodium excretion and cardiovascular control is suggested. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. Classical integrable super sinh-Gordon equation with defects

The introduction of defects is discussed under the Lagrangian formalism and Backlund transformations for the N = 1 super sinh-Gordon model. Modified conserved momentum and energy are constructed for this case. Some explicit examples of different Backlund soliton solutions are discussed. The Lax formulation within the space split by the defect leads to the integrability of the model and henceforth to the existence of an infinite number of constants of motion.

Alternative string theory in twistor space for N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory

In this Letter, an alternative string theory in twistor space is proposed for describing perturbative N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. Like the recent proposal of Witten, this string theory uses twistor worldsheet variables and has manifest spacetime superconformal invariance. However, in this proposal, tree-level super-Yang-Mills amplitudes come from open string tree amplitudes as opposed to coming from D-instanton contributions.

Manifestly covariant actions for D=4 self-dual Yang-Mills and D=10 super-Yang-Mills

Using an infinite number of fields, we construct actions for D = 4 self-dual Yang-Mills with manifest Lorentz invariance and for D = 10 super-Yang-Mills with manifest super-Poincare invariance. These actions are generalizations of the covariant action for the D = 2 chiral boson which was first studied by McClain, Wu, Yu and Wotzasek.

Self-dual super-Yang-Mills as a string theory in (x, 0) space

Different string theories in twistor space have recently been proposed for describing N = 4 super-Yang-Mills. In this paper, a string theory in (x, theta) space is constructed for self-dual N = 4 super-Yang-Mills. It is hoped that these results will be useful for understanding the twistor-string proposals and their possible relation with the pure spinor formalism of the d = 10 superstring.

Soliton solutions for the super mKdV and sinh-Gordon hierarchy

The dressing and vertex operator formalism is emploied to study the soliton solutions of the N = I super mKdV and sinh-Gordon models. Explicit two and four vertex solutions are constructed. A class of soliton solutions for the N=2 super mKdV/Sinh-Gordon hierarchy

Employing Hirota's method, a class of soliton solutions for the N = 2 super mKdV equations is proposed in terms of a single Grassmann parameter. Such solutions are shown to satisfy two copies of N = 1 supersymmetric mKdV equations connected by nontrivial algebraic identities. Using the super Miura transformation, we obtain solutions of the N = 2 super KdV equations. These are shown to generalize solutions derived previously. By using them KdV/sinh-Gordon hierarchy properties we generate the solutions of the N = 2 super sinh-Gordon as well.
