Avanços metodológicos na seleção do sexo de espermatozóides bovinos para utilização no melhoramento genético e na produção animal

O mercado demanda, desde final da década de 20, uma tecnologia para a sexagem de espermatozóides que possa ser inserida na indústria de produção de sêmen congelado e que tenha as seguintes características: a) não altere a viabilidade espermática; b) seja compatível com a congelação do espermatozóide sexado; c) permita a sexagem de espermatozóides previamente congelados e descongelados; d) permita a produção de várias doses de sêmen sexado congelado por dia, com custo compatível ao mercado. A importância dessa tecnologia para maximizar a produção animal a um custo baixo tem sido um desafio da pesquisa a vários anos. A possibilidade de produzir, em escala comercial, doses de sêmen enriquecidas com espermatozóides X ou Y aumentará os benefícios do uso da inseminação artificial no seu papel de maximizar o progresso genético entre gerações de acordo com os requerimentos de cada programa de melhoramento animal. Diferentes rotas tecnológicas são percorridas na tentativa de selecionar-se o sexo em mamíferos, tanto nas espécies de interesse zootécnico quanto em espécies ameaçadas de extinção, animais de companhia. Neste sentido, existem duas alternativas: a separação de espermatozóides portadores do cromossomo X, daqueles portadores do cromossomo Y; ou a sexagem de embriões pré-implantados. A viabilidade da sexagem de espermatozóides em bovinos é esperada por muitos anos e os desenvolvimentos recentes tornaram essa tecnologia de aplicação commercial. Entretanto, muitas limitações ainda existem, principalmente, referente à taxa de gestação em condições de campo. Isso restringe a utilização dessa tecnologia no melhoramento genético e produção animal. Nessa palestra abordaremos os potenciais sistemas de criação e produção que poderão beneficiar-se com a sexagem de espermatozóides, quando essas limitações forem solucionadas.

Modelo de programação linear para seleção de pulverizadores agrícolas de barras

A seleção de pulverizadores agrícolas que se adaptem às necessidades da propriedade, é um processo trabalhoso, sendo uma das etapas mais importantes dentro do processo produtivo. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi o de desenvolver e utilizar um modelo de programação linear para auxiliar na seleção de pulverizadores agrícolas de barras, baseado no menor custo horário do equipamento. Foram utilizadas as informações técnicas referentes a 20 modelos de pulverizadores disponíveis no mercado, sendo quatro autopropelidos, oito de arrasto e oito do tipo montado. A análise de sensibilidade dos componentes dos custos operacionais mostrou que as taxas de reparo e depreciação foram os fatores que mais interferiram na variação do custo horário do conjunto trator-pulverizador. O modelo matemático desenvolvido facilitou a realização da análise de sensibilidade que foi processada em um tempo muito pequeno.

Recursos de Alta-Tecnologia Assistiva Disponíveis no Mercado Nacional:ferramentas para alunos com paralisia cerebral

In Brazil, the interest on the applicability of assistive technology resources in the school environment has grown for children with cerebral palsy, according to the evidences on the diffi culties in their process of scholarization. The objective of the project was the construction of a data base about the resources of high assistive technology in the national market, indicated for the use in the classroom environment for children with cerebral palsy, with the purpose to systemize information, to assist in the selection, prescription and implementation of this type of resource. From a search in the literature available in existing national sites, a computerized archive on the availability of these resources was constructed, having as parameters the applied methodology already used in previous study. Therefore, information on adapted resources had been systemized, constituting an accessible source of data to all the interested parties, aiming to contribute for a effective implementation of these resources in the promotion of the scholarization of children with cerebral palsy in the country.

Previsão de vendas para uma indústria de equipamentos pesados: seleção de técnicas e análise

The continuous advance of the Brazilian economy and increased competition in the heavy equipment market, increasingly point to the need for accurate sales forecasting processes, which allow an optimized strategic planning and therefore better overall results. In this manner, we found that the sales forecasting process deserves to be studied and understood, since it has a key role in corporate strategic planning. Accurate forecasting methods enable direction of companies to circumvent the management difficulties and the variations of finished goods inventory, which make companies more competitive. By analyzing the stages of the sales forecasting it was possible to observe that this process is methodical, bureaucratic and demands a lot of training for their managers and professionals. In this paper we applied the modeling method and the selecting process which has been done for Armstrong to select the most appropriate technique for two products of a heavy equipment industry and it has been through this method that the triple exponential smoothing technique has been chosen for both products. The results obtained by prediction with the triple exponential smoothing technique were better than forecasts prepared by the industry experts

The optimal supply chain management (SCM) is considered by the companies a new frontier in order to gain efficiently competitive advantage. Through the SCM companies must define their competitive strategies by positioning inside the supply chain wich belongs both as suppliers and as consumers. The main objectives of SCM is integrate multiple suppliers to satisfy the market demand and make possible the synergies between the parts of the supply chain in order to better serve the consumer Meanwhile, selection, evaluation and development of suppliers play important roles in establishing an efficient supply chain. Thus, the SCM covers elements such as manufacturing, assembly, raw materials, and distribution to the final consumer. This paper discussed the model of Nash bargaining (NASH, 1950, 1953), which its arbitration function is invariant for the linear transformations. A more robust model was proposed with respect to the incommensurable effect. The result obtained by the optimization process was not influenced by the units or the amplitude values of these measures. Teeth that have lost much of their coronal tooth structure need intraradical devices to achieve a desired retention of the restorative material, restoring aesthetics and function to the patient. For this purpose, various types of intracanal posts have been studied, of wich the fiber posts have been highlighted with its increasing use in the dental market. The purpose of this study was to present a clinical case of using fiberglass post. As well as critically analyze the published works and points of controversy described by different authors related to factors such as different protocols cementation, surface treatments pins, fracture toughness and compression, the possibility of microleakage, diameter and length of the pin, and the various materials used in conjunction with the intracanal retainers. Thus, we concluded that fiber posts showed as an excellent alternative for anterior teeth, since have least 2 mm of tooth remaining.

Although equines have participated in the forming and development of several civilizations around the world since their domestication 6,000 years ago in comparison to other species that have zootechnical interest, few researches have been done related to animal breeding area, especially in Brazil. Some reasons for that are difficulties associated with the species as well as operational aspects. However, developments in genetics in the last decades contributed to a better understanding of the traits related to reproduction, heath, behavior and performance of domestic animals, including equines. Recent technologies as next generation sequencing methods and the high density chips of SNPs for genotyping allowed some advances in the researches already done. These researches used basically the candidate gene strategy, and identified genomic regions related to diseases and syndromes and, more recently, the performance in sport competition and specific abilities. Using these genomic analysis tools, some regions related to race performance have been identified and based on this information; genetic tests to select superior animals for racing performance have started to be available in the market.
