Leitura e Interpretação de Dados Prontos em um Ambiente de Modelagem e Tecnologias Digitais: o mosaico em movimento

Neste artigo, analisamos a leitura e a interpretação de dados prontos coletados por alunos para desenvolverem projetos de modelagem. Consideramos dados prontos as informações coletadas na Internet, como um gráfico ou uma fórmula, sem maiores explicações de como foram geradas. Com isso, repensamos o mosaico de pesquisas do GPIMEM, grupo de pesquisa ao qual pertencemos e que desenvolve pesquisas sobre modelagem e informática há cerca de vinte anos. Na análise, privilegiamos a apresentação oral e o relatório escrito de um grupo de alunas do Curso de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Os dados prontos sugerem uma nova faceta na relação entre tecnologias digitais e modelagem: eles parecem ser tratados de maneira idêntica a dados empíricos usualmente coletados em outros trabalhos de modelagem encontrados na literatura. Assim, o mosaico de pesquisas sobre o tema ganha novas dimensões na medida em que a Internet parece modificar a própria noção do que são dados.

Description and interpretation of Cenozoic vertebrate ichnofossils in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil

In the neighborhood of the city of Boqueirão do Leão (State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) a set of three big-sized tunnels has been found. One of the tunnels is only partially filled with sand and accessible along its entire length. It is horizontal, slightly sinuous, 36 m long, up to 4.2 m wide and up to 2.0 m high. The surface morphology of the walls is composed of anthropogenic marks, speleothems, black incrustations and traces like digging scratches and smoothed surfaces. The 2nd tunnel has its entrance blocked by sand and sandstone cobbles, but the end of the tunnel is only partially clogged and therefore accessible. This accessible portion is 12 m long, 3 m wide and 1.5 m high. The 3rd tunnel is completely filled and collapsed and is nowadays only indicated by concave roof features at its end. The general features of the tunnel system and the analysis of the surface morphology of the walls of the accessible portions permit to conclude that the tunnels were produced by ground sloths of the Cenozoic South American megafauna. The size of the tunnels suggests that its excavation was gradually carried out by successive generations of sloth herds, and not by a single individual animal. The primary function of the tunnels probably was not protection from predators, which had easy access to structures of this size, but to shelter during a drier climate. However, it is not yet possible to relate the tunnels to a specific ground sloth genus, a task that depends on the discovery of better-preserved tunnel systems. © 2013 by the Sociedade Brasileira de Paleontologia.

Consumer interpretation of ready to drink orange juice and nectar labelling

The aim of this study was to evaluate consumers' use and interpretation of ready to drink orange juice and nectar label information and its influence on the purchase decision. One hundred and sixty-seven consumers of ready to drink orange juice and nectar were interviewed. The labels were analysed to evaluate their conformance to Brazilian legislation. The manufacturing and shelf life date were the information most often checked, followed by health related issues. Brand, price and flavour were the most important factors for purchase decision. Brand and flavour showed significant association with consumer age. For most interviewed, 'nectar', 'whole' and 'natural' or '100% natural' were not well understood; they were not in accordance with the Brazilian legislation. 'Nectar', 'whole' and 'natural' or '100% natural' received a positive interpretation, whereas 'reconstituted juice' was considered a negative expression. Nevertheless, none of the labels completely conformed to the specific nutritional labelling legislation. © 2013 Institute of Food Science and Technology.

Metodologia de determinação das curvas de probabilidade de falha S-N-P para uma liga de aluminio submetida a diferentes tratamentos termicos de solubilização e precipitação

The approach of the subject matter in this work relies on the fact that the reliability of methods for performance analysis of materials proves critical for the result. This work focused on the development and presentation of the methodology for lifting probability curves for fatigue test (SN) according to standard E739, this focus is justified by the fact that the results in fatigue test show considerable dispersion making it difficult to reading and interpretation of data, this dispersion arises because the phenomenon of rupture is strongly influenced by internal characteristics of the material, we can then have much data ranging from test to test. Thus we set out originally for a brief study of aluminum alloys in question, as well as the treatments to which they were subjected. We also studied the behavior of materials when subjected to cyclic loading, which configures process of fatigue failure, and even fatigue test method in question. This statistical analysis is based on the ASTM E739 standard, so its contents was studied in detail so that we could present in detail the methodology and raise SN curves for different aluminum alloy 7012 subjected to fatigue test. Data were collected from tests conducted in the department of materials from two samples of aluminum alloy 7012 solubilized and precipitated by different time intervals and assayed temperature fatigue-type traction-compression, these data were then analyzed and used to survey curves using the base as E739. After lifting the curve analyzed the characteristics of the test samples and their correlation with the test results. We confirmed the effectiveness of the method of statistical analysis by ASME E739, which allowed the reading of data without this method would be very difficult to have a reading and comparison of the results for the two types... Construção de Conceitos Matemáticos na Educação Básica numa Abordagem Peirceana

Peircean semiotic analysis is employed to examine the construction/representation of signs-thinking of 32 early elementary school students regarding the concept of length measurement. The work consisted of developing concepts of standard unit, reading and interpretation of measurement by instruments, so that the mathematical language presented in the concrete materials was being signified and re-signified as a tool for perception and representation of new concepts. The pedagogical triad Feeling-Perceiving, Relating-Concept (F-P/R/C) co-related with the dynamism of the semiosis process, defined by Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914) in his semiotic theory on the production of the sign (Object, Representamen and Interpretant), enabled the interpretation and analysis of the students' inferences in the phase of perception (feel, admire), induction (experience), and deduction (concept).

As Terminologias Especializadas como Ferramentas para Novos Indicadores em Educação

Neste texto apontamos a importância dos estudos terminológicos para identificação, construção, leitura e interpretação de novos indicadores de ciência e tecnologia, pertinentes às novas demandas sociais. Diante do objetivo de discutir os desafios da utilização de indicadores para análise e formulação de políticas e para orientar o debate público, identificamos elos entre nossos estudos que resultaram em um Ensaio de Terminologia de Administração Escolar. Temos a convicção de que não há comunicação especializada sem terminologia igualmente especializada e seu uso adequado é fator decisivo para a divulgação precisa e objetiva da ciência e, no que aqui nos ocupa, para a leitura e interpretação de indicadores nacionais e internacionais. Entendemos que um estudo terminológico numa área de conhecimento como a educação pode conduzir à construção de novas ferramentas para leitura e interpretação de indicadores, favorecendo o debate público e a percepção social da ciência.

Narrating a series of reflections on childhood and experience, taking for reading and interpretation of aphorisms that make up my childhood and training as a fellow researcher, a full text simultaneously, is juxtaposed with other texts and authors, intertwining with Benjamin, memory and history in my narrative, in a singular moment, an event. In this course highlight the place ofexperience and their languages, between the know-how, andknowing how to express thinking about childhood and educationevent in the making, which announces the issue of impoverishment and destitution of the experience of life ineducational practice, indicating the possibility resume thembetween school knowledge and practices through different view of childhood and the event, as a teacher. I will continue outliningmy experience in research groups choosing the language and itsinterfaces specifically with art cinema / pictures in the construction of our subjectivity in postmodernity. Gestos de subjetivação: as dificuldades para realizar uma história do corpo e da sexualidade

The article presents, from the Analysis of French Discourse, different gestures of reading and interpretation of the body and sexuality at various times in history. It demonstrates that such gestures reading are the fruit of experience that each society sets about their cultural values and norms in each period, both in the first civilizations to the economy of sex for birth control and the survival of the group and in the Medieval Christianity control of sex in the fight against sin. Each society according to Michel Foucault, establishes a system of knowledge and power to order and classify the type of body and citizen you desire, like the city of Sparta with its regime of knowledge and training of the soldier and in Athens with the democratic regime in the formation of the political, or contemporary society in the formation of the body of perfect proportions that meet the stipulations of the market.

Strings in horizons, dissipation and a possible interpretation of the Hagedorn temperature

We consider the entanglement of closed bosonic strings intersecting the event horizon of a Rindler spacetime, and, by using some simplified (rather semiclassical) arguments and some elements of the string field theory, we show the existence of a critical temperature beyond which closed strings cannot be in thermal equilibrium. The order of magnitude of this critical value coincides with the Hagedorn temperature, which suggests an interpretation consistent with the fact of having a partition function that is ill defined for temperatures higher than it. Possible implications of the present approach for the microscopical structure of stretched horizons are also pointed out.
