Em defesa da categoria de voz média no português

A voz média representa uma categoria flexional das línguas clássicas indo-européias com a função de expressar estados de coisas que afetam o sujeito do verbo ou seus interesses. O português dispõe de um conjunto de predicados, formalmente identificados pelo uso anafórico e não-correferencial do pronome 'se', em que se sustenta a noção de diátese medial. Este trabalho pretende fornecer evidências formais, semânticas e tipológicas para postular uma distinção entre construções médias e reflexivo-recíprocas.

Growth rates in modern speleothems from Santana Cave, Brazil, by the Pb-210-method

The Santana Cave is located at the Upper Ribeira Touristic State Park (PETAR-Parque Estadual Turistico do Alto Ribeira) in southern São Paulo State, Brazil. This paper describes Pb-210 activity concentration data in soda straw stalactites samples collected at Salao das Flores in Santana Cave that is a fossil tributary of the cave river. Non-expensive alpha counting following some analytical steps for extracting and depositing Pb-210 were used for providing the Pb-210 data. In the analyzed samples, Pb-210 values of increasingly older samples fitted an exponential curve, thus suggesting that the production of Pb-210 has been constant with time. Also, the near-ideal fit indicated that the growth was uniform and there was no break in the continuous growth. The soda straw growth rates were determined from the best fit to the exponential curve through the Pb-210 activity concentration. The results of the measurements allowed estimate a longitudinal rate corresponding to 1.3 mm/yr and a lateral rate of 0.01 mm/yr, which permitted calculate times of 70 years and 317-498 years for their formation, respectively. The lateral growth rate is compatible with values from studies of chemical weathering rates held under laboratory and natural conditions. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Improvement of the ferroelectric properties of ABO(3) (A= Pb, Ca, Ba; B=Ti, Zr) films

High-quality ABO(3)/LaNiO3 (A = Ph, Ca, Ba; B = Ti, Zr) hetero structures have been grown on LaAlO3 (1 0 0) substrate by the chemical solution deposition method and crystallized by a microwave oven technique. The structural, morphological and electric properties were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscope (AFM), and dielectric and ferroelectric measurements. XRD patterns revealed single-phase polycrystalline and oriented thin films whose feature depends on the composition of the films. The AFM surface morphologies showed a smooth and crack-free surface with the average grain size ranging from 116 to 300 nm for both LaNiO3 electrode and the ferroelectric films. Dielectric measurements on these samples revealed dielectric constants as high as 1800 at frequency of 100 KHz. Such results showed that the combination of the chemical solution method with the microwave process provides a promising technique to grow high-quality thin films with good dielectric and ferroelectric properties. Preparation of Pb(Zr,Ti)O-3 thin films by soft chemical route

Lead zirconate titanate, Pb(Zr0.3Ti0.7)O-3 (PZT) thin films were prepared with success by the polymeric precursor method. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Micro-Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to investigate the formation of the PZT perovskite phase. X-ray diffraction revealed that the film showed good crystallinity and no presence of secondary phases was identified. This indicates that the PZT thin films were crystallized in a single phase. PZT thin films showed a well-developed dense grain structure with uniform distribution, without the presence of rosette structure. The Raman spectra undoubtedly revealed these thin films in the tetragonal phase. For the thin films annealed at the 500-700 degreesC range, the vibration modes of the oxygen sublattice of the PZT perovskite phase were confirmed by FT-IR. The room temperature dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the PZT films, measured at 1 kHz were 646 and 0.090, respectively, for thin film with 365 nm thickness annealed at 700 degreesC for 2 h. A typical P-E hysteresis loop was observed and the measured values of P-s, P-r and E-c were 68 muC/cm(2), 44 muC/cm(2) and 123 kV/cm, respectively. Dielectric tunability in (1-x)[Pb(Mg 1/3Nb 2/3)O 3]-xPbTiO 3 ceramics for tunable devices application

The dielectric properties of the 0.65[Pb(Mg 1/3Nb 2/3)O 3]-0.35PbTiO 3 ferroelectric ceramic composition were investigated viewing the capability to be used for tunable microwave applications. The dielectric response has been studied for three selected temperatures (300 K, 370 K and 400 K), below the paraelectric- ferroelectric phase transition temperature, as a function of the applied 'bias' electric field. The obtained dielectric tunability was found to be around 60 %, under an electric field of 19 kV/cm, which makes the studied ceramic composition an excellent candidate for application in the electro-electronic industry, as tunable devices. © 2010 IEEE.

A redução de vogais no português: estudo de uma amostra do PE em comparação com o PB

This study aims to verify the reduction phenomenon and/or disappearance of vowels, especially unstressed vowels in PE compared to the PB, obtained by analysis of the recording of an oral reading sample of the Mar Português poem, by Fernando Pessoa, made by informants of the two variants. The noticeable difference in pronunciation of the informants, with any possibility of reaching up to no understanding of European pronunciation by Brazilian speakers motivated the development of an experiment that allowed us to compare the duration of vowels produced in the two variants. By isolating and measuring the vowels at Praat audio analysis program, this study was to confirm the reduction and, in extreme cases, the disappearance of unstressed vowels in PE, a phenomenon described in Mateus and D'Andrade (2000)
