The Paraná Basin is a Western Gondwanan cratonic basin that is better defined as the Paraná depositional site, since it has a diverse history as a basin. Sedimentation started in the Ordovician-Silurian, followed by extensive marine Devonian deposition. A Late Paleozoic/ Triassic facies cycle wedge was clearly built during Pangean time. The Early Cretaceous was characterized by extensive basaltic lava flows immediately before the break-up of Pangea. Following these rifting and drifting processes, the basin's structural framework was totally rebuilt, generating new depositional sites in the Late Cretaceous to Tertiary. Based on more recent data, at least two different basins may be defined during the evolution of what was once considered a unique basin. Nevertheless, even if considered as a single basin, the sedimentary pile of the Paraná Basin has considerable economic potential, until now exploited only rudimentarily, except for its groundwater resources. Aggregates, limestones, clays, industrial sands, gems, dimension stones, hydrocarbons, coal, peat, and uranium are some of the potential mineral resources of this basin. Copyright © 1997 by V. H. This completion of course work has as its object of study the Bauxite Province of Paragominas regarded as the richest Amazon bauxite province and whose genesis is related to laterization processes responsible for the formation of mineral deposits of the Rondon Alumina Project, designed to assess areas in the southeast of Pará State, for mineral resources exploration of bauxite, which is the main source of aluminum in the country. Located in the region of Rondon do Pará - PA, the study area is geologically inserted in Lithostratigraphic Unit called Cobertura Laterítica Matura (Mature Lateritic Cover), formed by alteration of paleotropics Cretaceous siliciclastic rocks, and its geomorphology corresponds to a broad plateau with displays of representative profiles of the processes that acted in the region. In this context, the present research aims to characterize the geological evolution of the laterite profile, with detailed studies in the area, geological description of the formations from the bauxite surfaces, and mineralogical composition litochemical of different horizons that were correlated and deployed in an evolutionary model compatible with its traits. The data collected during the analysis subsidized metalogenetic understanding of the processes that acted in the enrichment of aluminum and iron as well as the redistribution of the latter modified profile. The results and information were embodied in the form of geological characterization of the different constituents of mineral associations of bauxite horizons, similarities or differences in both textural and structural aspects, in order to propose a evolutionary model with retaken of gibbsitization processes

Two of the major problems caused by construction activity are the production of construction and demolition waste (CDW) and the exploitation of mineral resources, causing big impacts on the environment. Therefore, the recycling has been shown as an alternative to mitigate the harmful effects of waste on the urban environment and prevent the exploitation of new raw materials. This course work aims to study the behavior of recycled aggregates from Vale do Paraíba in concrete and mortar. Initially, it presents the definitions of recycled aggregates according to CONAMA Resolution No. 307/2002, the aggregate settings for concrete and mortar (such as the grain size, its origin and density, and the characterization parameters according to ABNT), and the definition of ACI method of concrete mix design. Afterwards, it presents the characterization of materials separated by assays. After that, it shows the theoretical concrete proportioning applying the ACI method and experimental concrete proportioning. Then, the analysis of results is performed to finally conclude that the materials provided can't be used to replace natural aggregates because they cannot have the same performance. With the studies, it could be observed that the recycled aggregate presents a great complexity and diversity in origin, therefore the form how the material should be handled requires great care
