Through a description of the productivity problems experienced by some enterprises, to optimize their respective production lines, results of poor performance or low quality, the following work aims to explain and demonstrate the practical application of the theory of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) on cold lamination machines in a steel industry . The project, to ensure your goal, is based on structuring a complete planning to increase levels of performance, availability and quality relating to rolling. On completion of the work, will be presented forecasts of future goals for the OEE, to search for continuous improvement and global standards of efficiency, taking into account, the sector the company operates, the history of the laminators, and financial aspects

This article evaluates the efficiency of Brazil's industrial sectors from 1996 to 2009, taking into account energy consumption and respective contributions to the country's economic and social aspects. This analysis used a mathematical programming method called Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which enabled, from the SBM model and the window analysis, to evaluate the ability of industries to reduce energy consumption and fossil-fuel CO2 emissions (inputs), as well as to increase the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by sectors, the persons employed and personnel expenses (outputs). The results of this study indicated that the Textile sector is the most efficient industrial sector in Brazil, according to the variables used, followed by these sectors: Foods and Beverages, Chemical, Mining, Paper and Pulp, Nonmetallic and Metallurgical.

In recent years, harvesting process of sugarcane is changing itself, passing through semi-mechanized for mechanized system, who, currently predominate in Sao Paulo state, Brazil. Mechanized harvesting consists in a sequence of operations which includes cutting the pointer and chopping the stalk. The straw is a harvesting residue, and it stays in the ground, piling up above soil, with a possible prejudice for crop yield. An economic way to retract this straw is using mechanized processing for bailing it, involving hay balers, which are imported to Brazil and their use require regularly field conditions of work. Those balers could produce square or round bales, which can be sold to energy generation. This study aims to estimate economic efficiency indicators of round and square systems for sugarcane straw, establishing a relationship between baling costs and the incoming generated from those bales. Based on data set, round baling system was 26% more efficient than square baling system, and that round baler has a lower purchase price and a higher compress ratio of biomass, allowing a greater potential for power generation, turning it a more advantageous in a possible marketing for bales produced. This work contemplates an opportunities study of the rational use of energy in an industrial unity from the demand analysis and electrical energy consumption. Through a guide of energy analysis it was described how to find the main problems that create energy wastes in an industry, showing the ways so the production processes avoid such wastes and start to use energy in a more sensible e efficient way. It was also studied, the technical e economical viability of possible interventions to be implemented in terms of energy conservation and of possible demand supply alternatives

Recently, the environmental concern has grown due to the higher awareness about the availability and the importance of natural resources for survival on the Earth. So, laws and regulations were implemented aiming the environmental preservation. It has being developed new systems, technologies and techniques in order to minimize wastage of resources and minimize waste generation that may cause environmental impacts, in order to abide by the laws and regulations. These techniques and systems have been developed mostly for the industrial sector, because it’s one of the most responsible for the waste generation and impacts. One of the most employed systems is the environmental management, performed during the environmental diagnosis of the area/activity. So, this study aimed the environmental assessment and the establishment of proposals for the mitigation of the most significant environmental impacts generated in five industries of the Antonio Crepaldi industrial district – Presidente Prudente, in order to contribute to environmental issues and provide greater efficiency in the productive process of these industries... One of the most primal ways of human work already known is the tessellation and ginning for the production of fabric and clothing - what used to be, back in those days, statement of power and status. The arrival of the Industrial Revolution - in the middle of the XVIII century at Britain - increased the textile industry production, and what used to be manufactured and hard to obtain, starts then to be produced in mechanical ways and large-scale. Despite all the boost given to the economy of an expanding capitalist market, it should be pointed out the consequences of this major industrialization, especially the environmental ones, more and more concerning nowadays. The emissions of waste - that sometimes could be toxic - in effluents can possibly contaminate the aquatic ecosystems, causing a huge damage to its fauna and flora, affecting therefore all the biodiversity, reaching inclusively the humans. To avoid these problems, a few strategies have been taking place in the attempt to eliminate - or at least reduce - the amount of dye found in the effluents, and as the textile industry constantly leaves waste, efficient methods - that present good results in a short period of time - with a low cost are needed. The present study will test the bioremoval capacity of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in contact with dyes in a fix concentration, diluted in water with three different pH values. The tests will be done duplicate, and after the concentration analyses - made by spectrophotometry - it will be analyzed which pH shows major efficiency in the dye removal and what is the influence of the biomass in this process

The fierce competitiveness of the current market and the sophistication of customer requirements made the commitment to quality a need within organizations. The search for quality has been carried out by the adoption of quality management systems, a formal organization that should be present throughout the organization, from the initial identification of market needs to the satisfaction of customer requirements. The methodology most commonly used for this purpose is based on the requirements of ISO 9001, latest version of 2008. Considering this scenario, was developed a case study in a small company of the industrial sector with the development of a plan for the implementation of ISO 9001. The proposed methodology involved the construction of a theoretical framework on the subject and the development of a case study with a qualitative approach. Initially, was applied a questionnaire to the representative of the organization about the company's operating procedures, activity logs held, current documentation, planning and resource management for the construction of an assessment about the adequacy of the company needs to ISO 9001. Were obtained as results the characterization of production processes and organizational structure of the company and examples of policy and objectives of quality, performance indicators, document control, system for visualization of non-compliances, among others. Finally, the benefits of adopting a quality management system based on ISO 9001 requirements for the company and its environmental issues such as increased process efficiency, less waste and greater profitability, were pointed out, and the conditions for effective certification in the future

This work approaches the analysis of industrial refrigeration systems applied to a chemical processing industry that, in this case, consists of refrigeration machines, cooling tower system, cold water system and brine system. In this study it is highlighted the function and characteristics of different systems, including the main components, the most important features, their functionality and best practices. The motivation for this work is the fact that refrigeration systems are essential in many industrial processes, presenting a high energy consumption that is related to a significant parcel of production costs. It has aimed to understand the case studied in order to evaluate the energy efficiency of systems and to compare with Carnot efficiency and best available technologies. The assessment aims to identify irregularities, find opportunities and propose solutions that increases the performance of equipment and the overall system efficiency. Therefore, the studies intend to reduce the operation costs and generate gains for the company
