Indícios de subjetividade na fala de uma criança psicótica: um olhar para as hesitações

This study, performed under a linguistic-discoursive prism, aimed to: (1) describe the moments in which occurred hesitations in the utterances of a psychotic child diagnosed with Language Disorder; and (2) determine the extent to which these moments (also) can indicate aspects of a subjectivity trying to emerge in this child. Data were extracted from a speech therapy session with a ten year old female child. Concerning the fi rst goal, from a total of 362 utterances produced by the child, only 74 (20%) had hesitation traces, while 288 (80%) did not. Concerning the second goal, the utterances with hesitation traces occurred in situations of: topic development, especially in the form of complementarity; introduction of new topic; return to the previous topic; refuses to the topic; enunciative incompleteness. The high percentage of utterances without hesitation traces (80%) is explained because they are highly predictable from the context, mostly in situations of ritualized adjacent pairs, oftentimes in situations of immediate specularity. The reduced percentage of utterances with hesitation traces are explained precisely by the fact that, unlike those without traces, in these ones, signs of a subjectivity that tries to emerge and show itself in the discourse production are detected. With the development of this study, we tried to emphasize the view at the hesitations as marks of subjectivity – in other words, evidences of confl icting relationships between the subject and the others that constitute the utter. The concern was also about bringing to the fi eld of Speech Pathology discoursive linguistic refl ections based on data extracted from symptomatic contexts of language.

Dilemas e hesitações da modernidade tardia e a emergência da sociedade de controle

The objective of this study is to emphasize the fundamental points of the theoretical discussion about late modernity. In the two last decades, authors like Giddens, Beck, Bauman, Sennett and Garland have emphasized the social, historical and theoretical characterization of modernity in the advanced occidental societies. This discussion, despite being indispensable, does not allow the comprehension of the problems of this new stage of occidental capitalism in terms of its technical dimension and social control. The article arguments in favor of the incorporation of analysis of Michel Foucault’s power and stresses its present reality and potential. This author renewed the theoretical possibilities of the human sciences as he criticized a naturalized view of History and historical events. The influence of his works, an analysis of modernity, may be observed in the debate around the crisis of modernity and the emerging society of control. At the same time, his work helps us understand the main dilemmas and hesitations of contemporary societies.

Por uma visão discursiva do fenômeno da hesitação

Partindo de questionamentos ao modo como a literatura trata o fenômeno hesitativo, defendemos, neste trabalho, a hipótese de que as hesitações funcionariam como marcas de momentos de tensão entre elementos lingüístico-discursivos. Buscando confirmá-la, analisamos material extraído de sessões de conversação de um sujeito com doença de Parkinson e de um sujeito sem patologia neurológica. Verificamos, nos vínculos entre as marcas de hesitação e os trechos de fala que a elas se relacionavam: (a) se ocorria contenção da ou abertura para a deriva; (b) se as ações sujeito-língua ocorriam antecipadamente ou reparando a deriva; e (c) se as tensões predominavam no eixo sintagmático e/ou paradigmático da linguagem. Essa observação permitiu-nos conjecturar: (I) que, no processo hesitativo, podem figurar uma contenção da deriva e/ou uma abertura para a deriva; (II) que as hesitações se constituem em pontos de deriva/ancoragem de ações sujeito-linguagem de reparação e/ou antecipatórias; (II) que subsistemas lingüístico-discursivos funcionam sob diferentes relações de predominância no acontecimento do fenômeno hesitativo.
