A glossary for biometeorology

Here we present, for the first time, a glossary of biometeorological terms. The glossary aims to address the need for a reliable source of biometeorological definitions, thereby facilitating communication and mutual understanding in this rapidly expanding field. A total of 171 terms are defined, with reference to 234 citations. It is anticipated that the glossary will be revisited in coming years, updating terms and adding new terms, as appropriate. The glossary is intended to provide a useful resource to the biometeorology community, and to this end, readers are encouraged to contact the lead author to suggest additional terms for inclusion in later versions of the glossary as a result of new and emerging developments in the field.

Anapyrexia during hypoxia

Reducing body temperature has been found to improve survival not only due to hypoxia (the main focus of this review) but also to ischemia, shock, and many other types of insults. Under these conditions, there is a reduced oxygen delivery to the brain. To compensate the hypoxia, a regulated hypothermia (anapyrexia-Glossary of terms for Thermal Physiology, Commission for Thermal Physiology, 2001) takes place, which has been reported as a beneficial response since the drop in body temperature causes a reduced oxygen demand. The objective of the present article is to review the current knowledge of the mechanisms of hypoxia-induced anapyrexia, focusing on its neurochemical control mainly at the preoptic region of the anterior hypothalamus. Kant e as analogias musicais

Besides a philosophical glossary, Kant handles many other linguistic repertoires; among them, for instance, the musical ones. The present study, by considering the kantian musical lexicon, is not intended to promote the music in the realm of critical philosophy from a aesthetic point of view, but to recognize and to examine in a preliminary manner an argumentative resource used by the philosopher, namely, the musical analogy.

Julia Franck: tradução de contos da escritora alemã e o uso de memórias de tradução

The objective of this project is to present a literary translation from three short stories of German contemporary writer Julia Franck into Portuguese. The selected short stories are “Bäuchlings”, “Zugfahrt” e “Streuselschnecke” from the book Bauchlandung: Geschichten zum Anfassen (2008). In this project, I present also a small overview about assisted translation tools, including the Translation Memories, and their use by some translators and my experience as a novice user of this tool and the creation of a German-Portuguese glossary based on the translated short stories
