The search for international impact and the need to create formal or informal networks of academic cooperation are some of the most common features of the current training offered by many universities. Aware of this difficulty and the desirability of creating synergies to enrich teaching and academic collaboration networks between universities, an experience is presented, in the context of the teaching of Information and Documentation, of inter-university collaboration for the joint design of learning activities and skills assessment, developed by teachers in the public universities of Zaragoza and Salamanca (Spain) and the São Paulo Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (São Paulo, Brazil). The experience is developed using models that facilitate the structuring of learning activities aimed at the acquisition of common skills. Each activity that is proposed and developed is recorded in a spreadsheet which collects the information arranged in various fields such as: description, skills, objectives, expected learning outcomes, tools, required resources and materials, evaluation criteria, amongst others, so that the student can see what he is asked to do, how to do it and how useful it will be. This way of designing skills-based learning activities is possible, in geographically diverse academic settings through the use of Information Technology and Communication, enabling both remote cooperation between teachers and also materials offered on the platforms of each of the universities.

Introduction: Individuals born from the 1990’s to accompany technological change course and learn how to use the technological resources that have access before they even learn to read or write. In this sense, the literature considers the digital natives or even 'Google generation'. However, it has been questioned their skills to identify information needs and seeking and use of information in the most varied environments digital information available on the Web. Objectives: To characterize the behavior of information seeking in everyday life of a group of teenage students from a private school in Marilia, Sao Paulo. Methodology: A qualitative study with 30 adolescent students of a private school in Marilia, Sao Paulo. Data collection was accomplished at first by means of a questionnaire, based on the research of Hughes-Hussell and August (2007), containing questions about age, gender, hobbies and everyday tasks, and issues the use of computers and the internet, which allowed determination of the social, economic and cultural rights of respondents. Results: have focused on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to search access and use information. It was suggested that the "Brotherhood of Informatics', an incentive for students to (re) learn the tools of digital communication and make appropriate use of the resources, products and services on the web to search and effective use of information compatible with their needs and that is tied to the ethical and responsible use of technology environments. Conclusions: The results arising from this study will continue through the continuation of the Confraternity of Computing, which became a "thermometer" on the use of digital information environments and the attitude of the students in front of Information and Communication Technologies in the College “Cristo Rei”.

This research presents a methodology for prediction of building shadows cast on urban roads existing on high-resolution aerial imagery. Shadow elements can be used in the modeling of contextual information, whose use has become more and more common in image analysis complex processes. The proposed methodology consists in three sequential steps. First, the building roof contours are manually extracted from an intensity image generated by the transformation of a digital elevation model (DEM) obtained from airborne laser scanning data. In similarly, the roadside contours are extracted, now from the radiometric information of the laser scanning data. Second, the roof contour polygons are projected onto the adjacent roads by using the parallel projection straight lines, whose directions are computed from the solar ephemeris, which depends on the aerial image acquisition time. Finally, parts of shadow polygons that are free from building perspective obstructions are determined, given rise to new shadow polygons. The results obtained in the experimental evaluation of the methodology showed that the method works properly, since it allowed the prediction of shadow in high-resolution imagery with high accuracy and reliability.

Considering the growing use of digital cameras in Photogrammetric projects, especially in aerial survey, this paper presents tests and analyses of bundle block adjustment with additional parameters, using different mathematical models, and blocks of images acquired by the SAAPI digital acquisition system. Three blocks of images were processed by the LPS (Leica Photogrammetry Suite) software, in which five groups of additional parameters (AP) can be used: Bauer, Jacobsen, Ebner, Brown and Lens distortion. These AP's models were employed in the bundle block adjustment, and the results were analyzed based on the accuracy of the checking points and on the changes in these additional parameters. The obtained results showed that the Lens Distortion model allowed the best results.

Image acquisition systems based on multi-head arrangement of digital frame cameras, such as the commercial systems DMC, UltraCam, besides others, are attractive alternatives enabling larger imaging area when compared to a single frame camera. Considering that in these systems, cameras are tightly attached to an external mount, it is assumed that relative position and orientation between cameras are stable during image acquisition and, consequently, these constraint can be included in the calibration step. This constraint is acceptable because estimates of the relative orientation (RO) parameters between cameras, from previously estimated exterior orientation parameters, present higher and significant deviations than the expected physical variations, due to error propagation. In order to solve this problem, this work presents an approach based on simultaneous calibration of two or more cameras using constraints that state that the relative rotation matrix and the distance between the cameras head are stable. Experiments with images acquired by an arrangement of two Hasselblad H2D cameras were accomplished, without and with the mentioned constraints. The experiments showed that the calibration process with RO constraints allows better results than the approach based on single camera calibration, provided that the estimation has included only images with good target distribution.

Objectives: To assess the palpebral position in patients with congenital or acquired ptosis, related to margin, sulcus and eyebrow, trying to identify differences between types of ptosis. Methods: A retrospective evaluation of patients with palpebral ptosis treated at the Ambulatory of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery - Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu (UNESP) was conducted, from 1995 to 2006. Data were recovered from electronic medical charts as well as digital image files. Eighty-seven patients were assessed, according to age, gender and data related to ptosis, such as time of appearance and type of palpebral ptosis. Palpebral ptosis was classified in two groups: congenital and acquired ptosis. Measurements were taken of margin-reflex distance (MRD), margin sulcus distance (MSD) and margin eyebrow distance (MED) using digital measurements of photos obtained. The corneal diameter of each individual patients was the unit of measure used. All data was transferred to an Excel Spreadsheet and received statistical treatment. Results: Statistical analysis revealed there is no association between the presence of ptosis and gender, or the type of ptosis and gender. There was a significant difference between eyelid with and without ptosis for MRD. However, in relation to the type of ptosis (congenital or acquired), MRD did not present any significant difference. The MSD and MED measurements were higher in acquired ptosis when compared to congenital ptosis. Conclusion: Assessment of palpebral positioning using digital measures endorse that MRD is smaller in patients with palpebral ptosis and similar in congenital or acquired ptosis, whereas MSD and MED presented higher values in acquired ptosis.
