The transit time of seeds ingested by frugivorous animals has important implications for the spatial distribution of seeds and their dispersal distance. Nevertheless, this parameter is rarely included in seed dispersal studies. In this paper, we provide information about the transit time of seeds of nine species of plants ingested by individuals of six species of captive birds (Turdus albicollis, T. amaurochalinus, T. leucomelas, T. rufiventris, Stephanophorus diadematus and Saltator similis). We found that (1) seeds are regurgitated quickly through the digestive tract of birds than defecated seeds, and (2) large seeds (e.g., > 5 mm in diameter for Turdus spp.) are regurgitated rather than defecated. These results corroborate other studies, but the relationship between seed size and transit time seems to be quite complex and variable, requiring more detailed studies on this important aspect of the ecology of seed dispersal and digestive physiology of frugivorous birds.

This research has been conducted with the objective of identifying the similarities and the differences between the school management system proposed by the government and the school management system applied on a daily basis by the school management team. This management team is composed by the school principal, the coordinator teacher, and the educational supervisor of a school in the inner state of Sao Paulo. Data is being collected researching the references already existed about the school management system, documents and files of the school, and by an interview with the management team. It is expected that this research will identify the close and the distant aspects between the evaluation of the management team about itself and the evaluation conducted by the school in the process of educational evaluations. The data obtained through this research job is being analyzed considering its quality aspects.

A partir da dcada de 90, sob a influncia do neoliberalismo nas polticas educacionais brasileiras, a avaliação assume um papel central e passa a servir de mecanismo de controle, ou seja, ela passa a ter o objetivo de averiguar se a qualidade educacional foi alcanada. A concepo neoliberal utiliza o sistema gerencialista e, dentro dessa lgica, os critrios de eficcia, eficincia e produtividade so inerentes ao campo educacional. Dessa forma, os ndices de desempenho, medidos pelo alcance de pontuaes em testes e as metas estabelecidas quantitativamente inserem a educao na lgica mercadolgica, ao mesmo tempo em que induz uma nova forma de se organizar a escola e o trabalho docente. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa realizada teve como objetivo analisar a seguinte questo: Que consequncias as avaliaes, que ganharam centralidade no contexto neoliberal, trazem qualidade da escola? A partir da abordagem qualitativa do tipo bibliogrfica o trabalho foi desenvolvido e apontou algumas consequncias que trazem as avaliaes externas da forma como atualmente esto sendo utilizadas. Foi possvel tambm apontar a existncia de caminhos alternativos, como forma de resistncia ao modelo vigente

Health education presently experiences the incorporation of information technology, thus making access to information more practical and attainable. The initiatives to make health care scientific content available virtually have shown to be useful for teaching, health care professionals and the general population. A website, however, must be constantly managed. To promote the dissemination of the website at www.educacaoemsaude.fmb.unesp.br among faculty members and undergraduate nursing students and students at Escola Tcnica de Enfermagem (Vocational Nursing School) - ETE, by evaluating, among them, its graphic and functional aspects and seeking suggestions for its improvement. This is a descriptive quantitative study for which the participants were asked to fill out an instrument designed for the study. The evaluation was performed among nursing faculty members and students at Univ Estadual Paulista Jlio Mesquita Filho UNESP and students at Escola Tcnica de Enfermagem (Vocational Nursing School) ETEC in the city of Botucatu. The number of participants totaled 88 individuals, of whom 23 were undergraduate students, 62 were students at ETEC, and 3 were faculty members. Eighty-one were females, and 7 were males. The participants age ranged from 17 to 56 years. Among the items that evaluated the website, the answers prevailed from very good to good. When the participants were asked what they had thought about the website, the answers were mostly positive, and the most frequently description given was interesting. Among the facilities, the most frequently reported was easily understood content, and as regards difficulties, handling the website was the most often mentioned.
