O estudo da distribuição espacial de pragas é fundamental para elaboração de planos de amostragem que possam propiciar maior adoção do manejo integrado de pragas. Para Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) biótipo B em feijoeiro Phaseolus vulgaris L., foram conduzidos ensaios de campo em uma área de 10.000 m², dividida em 100 parcelas iguais de 10 x 10 m, nas épocas de semeadura das águas e da seca. As amostragens foram realizadas semanalmente, em 10 plantas por parcela. Coletou-se um folíolo por planta e avaliou-se a presença-ausência de ninfas da mosca-branca na página abaxial. Para adultos, observou-se visualmente a presença-ausência da praga nas plantas. em todas as amostragens obtiveram-se valores menores que a unidade para a relação variância/média, indicando disposição regular da mosca-branca no campo, confirmada pelos valores significativos da estatística ½d½, do teste de afastamento da aleatoriedade, assim como pelos valores inferiores à unidade do índice de Morisita. A distribuição binomial positiva foi o modelo mais adequado para representar a distribuição espacial da B. tabaci biótipo B na cultura do feijão.

Parmodel is a web server for automated comparative modeling and evaluation of protein structures. The aim of this tool is to help inexperienced users to perform modeling, assessment, visualization, and optimization of protein models as well as crystallographers to evaluate structures solved experimentally. It is subdivided in four modules: Parmodel Modeling, Parmodel Assessment, Parmodel Visualization, and Parmodel Optimization. The main module is the Parmodel Modeling that allows the building of several models ford a same protein in a reduced time, through the distribution of modeling processes on a Beowulf cluster. Parmodel automates and integrates the main softwares used in comparative modeling as MODELLER, Whatcheck, Procheck, Raster3D, Molscript, and Gromacs. We report the discovery of 57 new fir laser lines from (CD3OH)-C-13 molecule optically pumped by a waveguide CO2 laser of 300 MHz tunability. For all lines, precise frequency offset measurements between the CO2 line center and the center of the absorbing (CD3OH)-C-13 line were performed using the transferred Lamb-Dip technique. We have also measured directly the frequency of seven FIR laser lines by heterodyning with already known laser lines.We present a complete list of all known laser lines (134) and frequency measurements (24) for this molecule.

This article examines the lexical stress positioning in three moments of Portuguese diachrony: in its Latin origin, in medieval times (the so called Archaic Portuguese, of GalicianPortuguese), and in contemporary times, comparing Brazilian and European Portuguese. Two analysis are presented: the first one, based on non-linear Phonology theories, and the second one, based on Optimality Theory. The article shows that the rhythmic chance that affected Portuguese in its diachronic trajectory from Latin to contemporary days is not based in lexical stress positioning, which is still very close to what happened in the original Latin phase of the language.

The correction of bone defects can be performed using autogenous or alloplastic materials, such as beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP). This study compared the changes in bone volume (CBV) after maxillary sinus lifting using autogenous bone (n=12), autogenous bone associated with β-TCP 1:1 (ChronOS; DePuy Synthes, Paoli, CA, USA) (n=9), and β-TCP alone (n=11) as grafting material, by means of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). CBV was evaluated by comparing CBCT scans obtained in the immediate postoperative period (5-7 days) and at 6 months postoperative in each group using OsiriX software (OsiriX Foundation, Geneva, Switzerland). The results showed an average resorption of 45.7±18.6% for the autogenous bone group, 43.8±18.4% for the autogenous bone+β-TCP group, and 38.3±16.6% for the β-TCP group. All bone substitute materials tested in this study presented satisfactory results for maxillary sinus lifting procedures regarding the maintenance of graft volume during the healing phase before the insertion of implants, as assessed by means of CBCT.

Tifton 419' bermudagrass cultivar [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. x C. transvaalensis Burtt-Davy] is the most preferred turfgrass for sportive, commercial and residential lawns. On similar species, such as Stenotaphrum secundatum and Zoysia japonica, gibberellic acid-inhibiting plant growth regulators (PGRs) are used to decrease mowing frequency. A very limited research has been reported yet on the PGRs regarding seasonal effects of single vs. multiple applications of these products on turfgrass quality and clipping production on South America. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of sequential applications of different plant growth inhibitors during re-growth and flower rachis emission of 'Tifton 419' Bermudagrass. The treatment pattern includes an initial application followed by one sequential application at 14 days intervals, according to the following: prohexadione-calcium at 100+100 or 200+200 g a.i. ha-1, bispyribac-sodium at 40+40 or 60+60 g a.i. ha-1, trinexapac-ethyl at 113+113, 226+113, 226+226, 452+113, 452+226, 452+452, 678+0 or 904+0 g a.i. ha-1, and untreated control. The treatment effect was evaluated based on measurements of visual injury, height of plants, height and number of flower rachis, and clipping total dry mass production. The results showed that only bispyribac-sodium provided visual injury on 'Tifton 419' Bermudagrass, but the symptoms quickly tend towards zero at 21 days after second application (DASA). 'Tifton 419' Bermudagrass greens could be better handle by sequential application of trinexapac-ethyl, or prohexadione-calcium or bispyribac-sodium, once the height of plants, seedhead emission and total clipping dry mass reduction were over than 37%, 91% and 88%, respectively, for a period up to 60 DASA.
