The perceptions of the Community Health Agent (CHA) referred to ethics in their work have been evaluated in this study. A questionnaire with social and ethical issues was applied in 61 ACS. 90% reported having received information about ethics, and training courses was the most cited source (68.9%). On a scale from 1 (least) to 5 (maximum), 67% claimed to have knowledge about ethics among 4 or 5 and 88.5% reported that this topic has an importance of 5 in their work. Ethical conflicts exposed had an average of 75% of respondents in agreement with the reference sources, and the two items involving information privacy showed the greatest disagreement. Ethics was considered important by the professional performance of subjects who had a good perception about the issue; however the topic about privacy of information generated controversy.

O presente artigo procura discutir a atualidade do conceito de paideia, luz do entrelaamento entre o original referente grego e a categoria operatria do que aqui nomeamos uma tica em profisso. Trata-se de um estudo que busca formular algumas diretrizes para se pensar o tema do ensino e do aprendizado, metodologicamente partindo da acepo de interdisciplinaridade. Assim, poder-se-, fugindo das fragmentrias especializaes do campo, recompor a arte do pensamento pedaggico, incluindo nela seus essenciais aspectos ticos. Desse modo, supomos possvel estabelecer para professores e estudantes contemporneos desse terceiro milnio uma nova e moderna paideia.

In managing an Inpatient unit, nurses face the need to make decisions involving agents in the institutions internal and external environments, and all these measures are influential, regardless of how beneficial they may be. Hence, ethical issues constitute an important dimension of nursing management. This study aimed at identifying measures and/or interventions adopted by managing nurses at Inpatient Units in the Botucatu School of Medicine University Hospital - UNESP with the purpose to analyze professional ethics. The study involved nurses holding technicalsupervision positions in sectors related to the Nursing Division, comprising a total number of 20. The exploratory method was used by means of taped interviews with a qualitative approach based on the Collective Subject Discourse. Human resources deficit was observed as nurses major concern in relation to nursing care provision. The managers seek the nursing staffs development by means of educational activities in their own unit at the same time that they adopt those offered by the hospital. When ethical violations occur, they resort to measures ranging from individual strategies for violators orientation to legal intervention. The resolution of ethical conflicts by nursing managers generally occurs in a gradual fashion by taking into account their compromising level, whether in relation to the patient or to the multiprofessional team. Educational activities are focused on the development of technical skills aiming at preventing physical damage to patients although educational activities targeted at the development of professionals ethical awareness were not mentioned

Ao paciente necessrio fornecer esclarecimentos sobre as possibilidades teraputicas, apresentando os riscos, benefcios, prognstico e custos de cada alternativa possvel e indicada. Esta uma determinao tica e jurdica. No obstante, o profissional da sade detm o conhecimento clnico/tcnico/cientfico, e determina quais informaes sero (ou no) fornecidas. O paciente decide submeter-se a um tratamento, fornecendo o seu Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido com base nos dados a ele apresentados. Infelizmente, pode ocorrer de alguns profissionais no fornecerem todas as informaes necessrias a uma tomada de deciso esclarecida ou, depois de obtido o consentimento do paciente, apresentarem-lhe informao que cause sua desistncia do tratamento inicialmente aceito. Esta ltima informao, se pertinente, e no se tratando de fato superveniente, deveria ter sido fornecida inicialmente. Porm, a informao pode no ser de todo verdadeira, e levar o paciente a decidir baseado, por exemplo, em riscos apresentados e mensurados de forma equivocada. A reabilitao crnio-facial da Articulao Tmporo-Mandibular (ATM), por meio de prtese de ATM, indicada em muitas situaes. Amide, pacientes que necessitam de tais prteses apresentam problemas funcionais e estticos; a expectativa gerada com a reabilitao grande. Este trabalho apresenta um caso e discute questes ticas e legais, incluindo a responsabilidade civil, do fornecimento parcial e inadequado de esclarecimentos a um paciente.
