In the last decades, medical care has been increasingly permeated by the concept of evidence-based-medicine, in which clinical research plays a crucial role in establishing diagnostic and treatment. Following the improvements in clinical research, we have a growing concern and understanding that some ethical issues must be respected when the subjects are human beings. Research with human subjects relies on the principles of autonomy, beneficence, no maleficence and justice. Ordinance 196/96 from the National Health Board adds to the Brazilian legislation such renowned bioethical principles.Aim: Discuss the main ethical aspects involved in research with human subjects.Materials and Methods: Critical analysis of Ordinance 196/96 and related literature. Conclusion: Ordinance 196/96 rules research with human subjects; nevertheless, it requires more in-depth discussions regarding the informed consent, use of placebo, research with vulnerable populations and research in developing countries.

The immunogenetic study of senile cataract showed that the association with the HLA antigens and Ia antigens suggests an influence of the antigenicity for cataractogenesis, but not a peculiar specificity. However, the investigation of the immunoglobulins in lens suggest that the lens pathology may be produced by antibodies reacting with the lens capsule and consequently interfering with the lens epithelial metabolism, and contributes to the complex mechanism of cataract formation.

Eight hundred and fifty sheep sera from 18 herds, located in 15 municipalities of the State of São Paulo, were examined by complement fixation test, indirect enzyme immunoassay and gel diffusion test for antibodies to Brucella ovis. The combination of the serological test results and the clinical and epidemiological data suggest that none of the examined animals was infected. The complement fixation and the gel diffusion tests showed good specificity, but the indirect enzyme immunoassay showed false positive results in nine of the sera.

The present text has the objective of presenting theoretical considerations regarding two types of strategy of research: phenomenology and ethnography. Based on a hermeneutic approach, the two conceptual propositions are presented, the first being dealt with in the sociological context, and the second presented as an anthropological basis. Their similar uses in an organizational context - as well as their differences - are highligthed according to the theoretical contributions of authors belonging to the qualitative universe of organizational research. The text reveals, by the presentations of reported theoretical assumptions, the relevance of the interpretative perspective for the conduction of research that has the organization as object of study, in the pursuit of the identification of ways of constructing the social reality that is the result of the analysis of meanings and experiences lived by the participants, highlighting the importance of the bond between researcher and the research object The theoretical discussion regarding the two perspectives allows to observe the competence of the phenomenological and ethnographic research practice within the field of organizational studies, showing their methodological possibilities to identify dynamics that relate to the experience of life, favoring the analysis of the human being as a phenomenon of interpretation. © FECAP.
