Análise de marcadores culturais no par de obras Relato de um certo oriente e The tree of the seventh heaven

This paper presents some results of a study on culturally marked terms in a corpus composed by the Brazilian novel Relato de um certo oriente (1989), by Milton Hatoum, and its translation into English The tree of the seventh heaven, by Ellen Watson. For the analysis of culturally marked terms, we followed the interdisciplinary approach proposed by Camargo (2005, 2007) involving corpus-based translation studies (BAKER, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2000), and the investigations of cultural domains (NIDA, 1945; AUBERT, 1981, 2006). The methodology adopted in the present research required the software WordSmith Tools (SCOTT, 2007), which provides the necessary resources for the collection of data in a corpus of translated texts. The software tool called WordList was used for the selection of the most frequent words in the texts and also for the identification of the culturally marked terms. For the analysis of the culturally marked terms in both texts we used the software tool Concord. The results revealed that most of the culturally marked terms are inserted in the ecological domain, and the other terms are distributed in the domains of material, social and ideological culture, which reflects the theme of the book.

Imagens da literatura brasileira traduzida: análise de capas

Da escrivaninha do autor às prateleiras das livrarias, todo texto “veste-se”, orna-se de acessórios, até tornar-se o objeto-livro, ser oferecido ao público e ser lido/consumido pelo leitor. Essas transformações, ocorridas em sua maioria na fase da editoração, podem ou não contar com a participação e, sobretudo, com o aval do autor. Quanto maior o sucesso ou prestígio da obra ou do escritor, mais próximo o autor parece estar das decisões de um lançamento e mais afastado de todos os seus desdobramentos: reedições, posteriores edições populares ou de bolso, traduções. A análise paratextual, mais especificamente a análise das capas de livros, permite-nos observar, quanto à publicação de literatura brasileira no exterior, que o mercado editorial estrangeiro adota com frequência, como vem ocorrendo há décadas, a opção com forte apelo ao exotismo tropical: paisagens cariocas, frutas coloridas, biótipos negro ou mestiço. Em algumas ocasiões, entretanto, notamos a preocupação na correspondência temática ou de gênero com a obra. Em ambos os casos os resultados podem ser surpreendentes, bem sucedidos ou provocar malentendidos e interpretações ambíguas. Propomos neste trabalho a apreciação e a análise de alguns desses casos em autores de literatura brasileira traduzidos e consagrados no exterior como escritores de literatura policial e suas vertentes: Rubem Fonseca, Patrícia Melo, Garcia-Roza e Tony Bellotto, começando por Rubem Fonseca.

A temática da violência escolar na formação docente inicial: das lacunas existentes às discussões necessárias

This paper emerged from a reflection on the troubles afflicting and shocked teachers, especially early in his career, among which stands out both in studies and in reports propagated by the teachers themselves: the violence manifested in and out of classrooms. Given this finding and the obvious need for overcoming beyond ephemeral measures, this research outlines two equally important goals: a) incite the discussion of violence at the time of initial teacher training as well as the emergence of new studies concerning this subject in academic research and b) transgress the tradition of research that consists in recommending prescriptions to be applied about how banning school violence, disregarding the peculiarities of each context. These objectives are derived from following question: which strategies are developed in undergraduate courses that aim to preparing of future teachers to deal with the phenomenon of violence in elementary school? Intending to answer this question and, therefore, contemplate the objectives outlined we opted for specialized bibliographic material analysis, systematically selected as the method. As a main result, it was found that the discussion of the theme of school violence in the initial teacher training is something still scarce in practice and incipient in the sphere of research. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of strengthening of this discussion so that when they get into career teaching, future teachers feel adequately subsidized up to face the everyday challenges that may manifest over the profession.

Educação ambiental nos anos finais do ensino fundamental em uma escola do campo: uma análise a partir do projeto político pedagógico

Environmental education (EE), a critical component to face the environmental crisis, must be present in formal education in a continuous, permanent and transversal way. Studies show, however, that EE occurs, often, in a sporadic and discontinuous way, and that it is mainly linked to Sciences. The objective of this study was to investigate the inclusion of environmental subjects in the Political Pedagogical Project (PPP) of a rural school, in Araraquara, SP. Through documentary analysis of the PPP, proposals for the Environmental Education for the last years of elementary education were examined. The results allowed the understanding, in a complex and contextualized way, of aspects related to the presence of environmental subjects in the school curriculum. They reveal that the suggestion of working with Environment attend the recommendations of the conference of Tbilisi and of Brazilian National Curriculum (PCN).

Análise semiótica do conto Passeio Noturno, de Rubem Fonseca

This paper presents an analysis of the short story Passeio Noturno I, by Rubens Fonseca, from the gerative way of sense, oriented by Greimas´ postulations of generative semiotics. For the semiotics, discourse is conceived as a superposition of levels of diferent depth which are articulated according to a way which goes from the abstract to the concrete (BARROS, 2001). Following the notion of gerative way, the analysis of the short story is three folded: the level of fundamental structures, the level of the narrative structures and the level of the discursive structures. The subject matter that underlies the structure of the short story refers to a critique of the violence present in capitalist society in which "voices of culture" coexist with "voices of barbarie".

Relações conjugais na literatura de Tostói: análise de duas obras

Existem representações sociais diversas sobre padrões definidores de normalidade que direcionam o erotismo humano, incluindo aí concepções sobre casamento e relacionamento conjugal. A literatura pode ser um modo de evidenciar esses padrões, por isso, este estudo qualitativo, tipo documental, teve por objetivo analisar a temática das relações conjugais em duas obras do autor russo Lev Tolstói: “Felicidade Conjugal” e “A Sonata a Kreutzer”. A partir da análise de conteúdo, os resultados discutem as seguintes categorias: 1) A relação conjugal como sinônimo de posse; 2) O desejo sexual como mercadoria, 3) Enamoramento e Amor e 4) Casamento e Fidelidade e 5) Relacionamento e gênero. Nas duas narrativas as dificuldades nos relacionamentos conjugais são apresentadas de modo a explicitar o enamoramento e o cotidiano tendo como pano de fundo as relações de posse entre as pessoas; a crítica evidente diz respeito ao principio de individuação, que tem como base a propriedade privada, inclusive nos relacionamentos amorosos e sexuais. Conclui-se que a análise dessas obras de Tolstói contribui para refletir sobre como os relacionamentos conjugais se configuram também na atualidade; além disso, ressalta-se que a literatura é um instrumento interessante para problematizar e refletir certos padrões de conduta em sexualidade e que poderia ser usada em propostas intencionais de educação sexual.

A (des) motivação extrínseca no contexto escolar: análise de um estudo de caso

The motivation of the pupils has been pointed as one of the factors that have influenced directly about what and as they learn. The boardings social-cognitivists of the motivation point two orientations: the intrinsic, that it is seen as natural trend of the individual, in which it executes an activity for considering it attractive, and the extrinsical, with the purpose to take care of to requests or pressures of other people, or to demonstrate to aptitudes and abilities. This research investigates the extrinsical motivation and its consequences in the pertaining to school performance of a pupil considered for the professors as having learning difficulties. The results of the research indicate the influence of the pertaining to school and familiar environment in the motivation and, this in the pertaining to school performance of the pupil, pointing the relevance of studies on the thematic one.

Marcos legais para os cursos de graduação em pedagogia no Brasil: análise das atribuições do pedagogo

The current National Curricular Guidelines sets as parameters for Education’s programs the teaching and professional training in order to allow the realization of activities of school tutoring (management) and educational research. Our objective was to analyze educators’ attributions since 1930. For that, we made an analysis of the main laws that guided the activities of these professionals. We tried to demonstrate how the educator became from an “old” school teacher (1854-1880) to a primary education professor (end of XIX and XX centuries) and, nowadays, in a “make it all” in schools and in the administrative tasks into the schools. We hope, with this analysis, to contribute to the definition of attributions of the educator in current days and to offer subsidies for a better thinking of the process to students of Education in Brasil, helping in the tutoring of those future professionals.

A temática afro brasileira no contexto da Educação Física escolar

The choice Brazilian african study theme in the general education, and particularly in physical education has not advanced as to be themed with the subject matter. Even open to this issue, in 2003 a law was passed introducing an obligation of racial ethnic correlations in Brazil. Law 10.639, changed the LDB (Guidelines and Framework Act, 1996) and establishing the obligation both in elementary school as high school, public and private, the teaching of history and African Culture and African Brazilian. As the main objective of disseminating the importance of valuing the African culture and its legacy, expanding the looks and the knowledge about the culture and history of a people who often are discriminated against and excluded by society. The questions that arise are the following: The physical education teacher know that prerogative? Incorporates the Brazilian african discussion in their classes? Discusses with students these subjects related to corporal practices? Have difficulty in dealing with this issue? What? Thus the aim of this study was to detect whether and how a group of physical education teachers is the Brazilian african theme in their classes, for the fulfillment of the Law 10.639 / 03. The methodology of this study was qualitative descriptive type. Were used for data collection semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation. The data obtained through interviews with teachers were transcribed, reviewed and classified according to the content analysis. Análise da produção acadêmica no campo da educação física acerca do currículo do estado de São Paulo e suas implicações para a prática pedagógica

Visando melhoria na qualidade do ensino e da aprendizagem dos alunos, a Secretaria de Educação do Estado de São Paulo elaborou em 2008 um documento para sistematizar um currículo único para todas as escolas dos níveis de ensino fundamental II e médio, sob sua jurisdição. Assim, objetiva-se com o presente estudo analisar tanto qualitativa quanto quantitativamente a produção acadêmicocientífica no campo da Educação Física acerca do Currículo do Estado de São Paulo, a fim de identificar as possíveis implicações para a prática pedagógica. Para isso, foram analisados artigos publicados em sete periódicos nacionais da área e um banco de teses e dissertações, tendo como recorte temporal o período de 2008 até 2014. A análise e discussão dos dados se deu, inicialmente, por apresentar os resultados referentes a cada um dos periódicos investigados para, em um segundo momento, compreender de forma qualitativa o panorama geral concernente à produção acadêmica na área da Educação Física sobre a temática do Currículo do Estado de São Paulo. Logo após, os artigos e as teses e dissertações foram organizados de acordo com a classificação de temas investigados proposta por Bracht et al. (2011). Assim, foi possível identificar as possíveis implicações da produção acadêmico-científica para a prática pedagógica, sob essa temática. Os resultados indicaram uma baixa quantidade de publicações pautadas no Currículo do Estado de São Paulo para a disciplina de Educação Física. Do total de 593 artigos ou trabalhos monográficos que foram encontrados sobre Educação Física escolar, foram identificados apenas 16 baseados no Currículo do Estado de São Paulo para a disciplina de Educação Física, valor correspondente a 2,69% do total encontrado sobre a temática de Educação Física escolar durante o período considerado para a pesquisa. Influência da violência no esporte sobre espectadores de MMA: análise de percepções e comportamentos

Modern society lives daily with groups of human beings who have high rates of aggression and violence. Scholars in the field point to the influence of certain environmental condition for the development of aggressive behavior. Among such circumstances, we can quote various aspects including the influence of media, and more specifically, the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). The MMA is now one of the world's most popular sport, having international visibility through your largest organization, the UFC® (Ultimate Fighting Championship). The sport's global coverage is surely source of influence for our children and adolescents, who without the correct direction, can take the scenes seen in the sport as common facts of everyday life, making aggression and violence acceptable behaviors in their lives. Many studies show behavioral changes related to violent practices in virtue of exposure of individuals to aggression scenes by media. Works provide some interesting theoretical models to explain the observational learning. Under such aspects, the determined reality brings a need for in-depth studies on the subject addressed, looking for a better understanding of relations between the sport's violence and your influences on social behavior of individuals in this context, and then, look for possible solutions to deal with the problem pre supposed

Em Cristo, poetas denunciam a podridão da modernidade: uma análise da obra Tempo e eternidade

This assignment aims to do a critical and interpretative review of the masterpiece Tempo e Eternidade, published by the Brazilian poets Jorge de Lima and Murilo Mendes in 1935. It is a result of a project called Restaurando a poesia em Cristo, created by many different Brazilian poets as Tristão de Ataíde, Augusto Schimdt, and others. It is worth highlighting the importance of these poems, because of the period when they were published and for the modern proposal, as the theme, which the poets denounce the bad aspects of modernity of the century through the Holly Bible, as also for the new esthetics. In the 30s, Brazil was passing through many changes; in aspects of history - the transition between the governments of Oligarchy to the New State, in governance of Getúlio Vargas; and in the literary context, it was the beginning of the second phase of Modernism, from 1930 to 1945. This period remains the consolidation of the literary movement, in terms of esthetics, since the major proposal of Modernism is freedom of the verse and, in this second phase, the search for a renovation of the language and the enlargement of the themes in poetry, such in the religious aspect or the social-political' themes. In this perspective, it aims to show the importance of the masterpiece for the history of Brazilian literature, coated as part of a turning point between the first and second phase of Modernism, also for the thematic renovation in religious poetry and esthetics, with a new proposal of esthetics. The methodology for the analyses of the poems will be through Antonio Candido's proposal, in O estudo analítico do poema, based on interpretation and comments. Therefore it intends showing through the analyses the relevance of the masterpiece written by the Brazilian poets, to the area of religious poetry and for the literary movement of that time
