Associação entre implantes odontológicos e próteses parciais removÃveis: revisão de literatura
Resumo:
Introduction: Unilateral or bilateral distal-extension removable partial dentures present complex biomechanics. The movements in different directions, associated with the alveolar ridge shape and soft tissue resilience can lead to damaging forces on the supporting structures. The association between implants / removable partial denture aims to provide better mechanical and biological properties to the stomatognathic system. Objective: The aim of this paper was to review the articles about the effect of implant support on distal extension removable partial dentures. Literature review and conclusion: Studies have shown that this combination provides greater support, retention and stability to the prosthesis, thus limiting their approach movement toward supporting tissues and providing functional and psychological comfort to patients.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the pH of calcium hydroxide (CalenTM) when associated or not with chlorhexidine 0.4%, and when associated with chlorhexidine with the addition of 20% or 10% of alphatocopherol (AchéTM), assessed in several periods of time. Methods: Fourty dentine tubes 20 mm, properly standardized, were made from bovine anterior teeth roots. Following, a perforation was achieved in the roots distal face at 7 mm from the cervical radicular line by using a #1/2 carbide bur. After complete root sealing is made, except in the perforation local, the radicular canals were filled with one of the following associations: Group I – Calen®; Group II – Calen™ with chlorehxidine at 0.4%; Group III – Calen™ with chlorhexidine at 0.4% with the addition of 20% (weight) of alhatocopherol compound and Group IV – Calen™ with chlorhexidine at 0.4% with the addition of 10% (weight) alphatocopherol. After cervical sealing is accomplished, the roots were immersed in water MiliQ and the pH, assessed in 24h, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 45 days. Results and Conclusion: In all periods tested, the pH of the calcium hydroxide (Calen™) was similar to the pH of the calcium hydroxide (Calen™) associated with chlorhexidine 0.4% and 10% alphatocopherol (p > 0.05). The association of 20% alphatocopherol obtained the pH lower than the association with 10% (p < 0.05). The pH of the association with chlorhexidine was similar to the pure calcium hydrocide (Calen™) after the 14th day (p > 0.05) only. Therefore, on the 45th day, this difference was significant again (p < 0.05).

High fuel consumption and its inadequate control in fuel stations caused the pollution of soil and aquifers. These consequences created more concern with the increased exploration of aquifers to supply the groundwater demand. The objective of this study was to evaluate the eficiency and efectiveness of the of pump and treat technique of the water applied to the Coastal Aquifer in the cleaning up of the plumes produced by the leaking of fuel in the gas station Auto Posto BaÃa do Sol Ltda. The gas station is located in São Sebastião, in the north coast of São Paulo State. In the case of Auto Posto BaÃa do Sol Ltda., the technique of pump and treat was eficient and the plume produced by the leakage was completely removed. However, the efectiveness of this technique was low due to the long time required for the complete operation.

It is know that endotoxin and various matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are involved in the development of periapical lesions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and correlate the presence of endotoxins and MMP- 3, MMP-8 and MMP-9 in root canals of teeth with necrotic pulp and periapical lesion before, during and after the biomechanical preparation (PBM) using a combination of different irrigations solutions and intracanal dressing. Thirty-three single-root teeth with a diagnosis of pulp necrosis and periapical lesion radiographically visible were selected. Immediately after the coronal opening was collected the first sample from the root canal content. Then, all canals were prepared (cervical and middle thirds) by oscillatory instruments (EndoEze) and irrigated by 2.5% NaOCl. After, a manual preparation was made for the apical third and the teeth were divided into three groups according to the irrigation protocol: G1) 2.5% NaOCl (4 manual files); G2) 2.5% NaOCl (2 manual files) + [Ca (OH)2 0.14%] (2 manual files) and G3) 2.5% NaOCl (2 manual files) + polymyxin B (2 manual files). After the PBM, the second sample was collected; then the third collect was performed after using EDTA final flush. The fourth sample was collected 14 days after placing the dressing [2% chlorhexidine gel + Ca(OH)2]. Quantification of endotoxins was performed by a kinetic chromogenic lysate from amoebocytes of Limulus (LAL) and quantification of MMPs by ELISA assay. The results were analyzed statistically by Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn's test (5%) and ordinal Spearman correlation. Presence of endotoxin was observed in 100% of cases and G3 showed the greatest reduction of endotoxins from the 1st to the 2nd samples (97%), being statistically similar to G2 (84.2%) and different from G1 (49.4%) (p<0.05). The intracanal dressing promoted a significant reduction of endotoxin, no difference among the groups. For...

RESULTADOS: CaracterÃsticas demográficas, antropométricas, fisiológicas e carga máxima atingida no teste ergométrico: idade = 63 ± 3,0 anos; IMC = 24 ± 2kg/m²; FC = 63 ± 9bpm; PAS = 123 ± 19mmHg; PAD = 83 ± 8mmHg; carga máxima = 152 ± 29 watts.

The literature has suggested that the association of removable partial dentures with dental implants can improve the quality of life of patients. Thus, the purpose of this study was to present a case report. This case report describes the development of a removable partial denture associated with dental implants bilaterally been monitored for 12 years, and the efficacy of the proposed treatment. The radiographic controls demonstrated no changes on bone tissue. The maxillary arch was rehabilitated with metal-free crowns. The patient was fully satisfied with this technique providing stability, esthetics, and proper function. It was concluded that the technique of using removable partial dentures associated with dental implants is viable and show the advantages of improved function, aesthetics and cost reductions in rehabilitation treatment.
