A geração de resíduos sólidos urbanos e sua influência na gestão urbano-ambiental municipal de Sorocaba/SP

In Brazil, rates of urban solid waste generation increase proportionally more than the annual growing of the population. The government, from its federal authority to the municipal spheres, faces increasing challenges for Urban and Environmental management regarding to solid waste in general and, in particular, municipal solid waste. Financial problems added to public health problems that worsen with the serious environmental impacts generated every year. In August 2010 Brazil the PNRS (National Policy on Solid Waste) was approved and sanctioned in which represented a true watershed in the country as a legal framework extremely ambitious and visionary. This work presents the successes and challenges that the municipality of Sorocaba/SP is facing after more than three years of PNRS sanctioned to conduct an Urban and Environmental management suited to the new legal bases towards the subject of solid waste. The results show a large gap between the content proposed by the law and the technical, financial and temporal reality to practical implementation by the municipal government. New legislation and federal incentives, consortiums among the cities, flexible deadlines and environmental education at all levels are certainly some proposals to catalyze processes that aim to solve and overcome the challenges of solid waste

Ocupação irregular do solo urbano - caso das habitações em encostas: causas e consequências

Uma grande parte da população brasileira reside hoje em locais considerados inadequados, seja pela ilegalidade ou pelo risco contínuo de catástrofes. Todo ano são noticiadas novas tragédias decorrentes dessas ocupações irregulares, exigindo tomadas de providências emergenciais e preventivas por parte dos responsáveis pela gestão do espaço público. A compreensão desse problema exige uma análise histórica da formação desses aglomerados urbanos, ou favelas, verificando os motivos que impedem ou desestimulam a elaboração de leis rígidas e aplicáveis para esses casos, bem como a elaboração de diretrizes de planejamento e projetos que possam ser implantados para solucionar estas questões nos locais necessitados

O clima urbano em Alfredo Marcondes/SP: uma análise dos indicadores geoambientais

There are obvious changes that occur within the cities, experienced in synthesis for the degradation of the environment and especially the worsening quality of life. Even small cities, began to exhibit characteristics typical of an atmospheric climate. Thus, it becomes natural to analyze the characteristics of these spaces, unlike the medium and large cities, provide a detailed analysis of the peculiarities of intra-urban space in order to highlight what factors enhance or soften the formations of a typical urban climate distinct patterns of land use. The aim of this research from a geoenvironmental mapping of attributes (uses and land cover, vegetation and tree characteristics of buildings) while representing the dynamic City entertainment. Thus, we seek to inter-relate these indicators to analysis climate urban-rural and intra-urban applied to the city of Alfredo Marcondes / SP, a small town in order to identify a potential compromise climate conditions point to generate a specific climate. From this detailed analysis, we intend to give suggestions with the government to improve the comfort of that environment. For the data collection was organized a specific methodology for its collection, organization and representation and for the record of climatic data (temperature, wind speed and direction and cloud cover) were used mini-shelters weather with temperature sensors in fixed locations, and a temperature sensor attached on the side of a vehicle, 1.5 meters in height from the floor for 42 points perpassando selected in different intra-urban spaces... Elaboração de um sistema de informações georreferenciadas para o planejamento urbano: estudo de caso - centros educacionais de Bauru

The objective of this paper is to show the development of a Geographic Information System (SIG) for the management of the Educational Centers of the city of Bauru. Currently, the Educational Centers and Assistance Institutes, public or private, in Brazilian cities have some problems, for example: they have no money to manage their institutions and they have no correct form to organize and to store the information. Because of these problems, we developed a system which will manage some informations for these institutions and local authority. This system will allow visualizing the data in the internet by the community. This pilot project has used the softwares SPRING 4.1 e SPRINGWEB 3.0.

O transporte público no município de Araraquara: origem, crise e as tramas da proposta de privatização da Companhia de Trólebus de Araraquara - C.T.A

For decades the Companhia Tróleibus de Araraquara was a national reference in public transportion, but in recent years it is in a process of bankruptcy and scrapping, characteristics of privatizing processes that has been occurring worldwide since the rise of neoliberal ideas. This monography is centered on the finance analysis of CTA to investigate what reasons led the public company to come in the current financial scenario, what are the interests that exist to privatize a public company and which consequences the sale of the of public companies have for a country of subordinate capitalism like Brazil. Most Brazilian cities are in an urban collapse due to the lack of public policies for public transportation and bulky incentives for private transportation. Furthermore, this monography aims to contribute for the study of urban mobility and point out if privatization is a way to improve life in the cities
