Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo caracterizar os padrões de consumo de bebida alcoólica e a prevalência de indicadores de ansiedade e depressão, em universitários. Foram investigados 200 alunos, em série consecutiva, oriundos dos cursos de Biologia, Ecologia, Educação Física e Pedagogia. Os métodos consistiram na aplicação de escalas especializadas para verificação de padrões de consumo de álcool e sintomas de ansiedade e depressão, respectivamente, o SADD (Short Alcohol Dependence Data) e a HAD (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale). Os resultados mostraram que, dos 200 alunos, 17 (8,5%) apresentavam comportamento de uso abusivo de álcool, com riscos para a saúde física e mental. Ainda, 53 alunos (26,5%) revelaram indicadores positivos de ansiedade e 16 (8%), de depressão. Destes 53 alunos com indicadores positivos de ansiedade, 8 (15,1%) faziam uso abusivo de álcool e, dos 16 alunos com sintomas depressivos, 8 (50%) tinham comportamento de consumo abusivo de álcool, com riscos para a saúde física e mental. Os autores concluíram que o uso abusivo de álcool pode estar associado à presença de sofrimento psíquico, principalmente ansiedade e depressão. E propõem que se discuta a necessidade de criação de um Serviço de Saúde Mental para atendimento da comunidade universitária.

There can be several indicators of violence in society. However, in no other health unit such violence acquires visibility as in emergency. This study aimed to examine whether there is divergence between the history of medical consultation and diagnosis of physical aggressions in the emergency unit. A cross-sectional study was conducted in an emergency unit in the city of Araçatuba, state of São Paulo, Brazil, based on medical records, considering data on patients, lesions, history, diagnosis and treatment. Out of 133,537 visits, only 153 were recorded as physical aggressions, and 161 informed violence in the history of the consultation; 59.6% were male, 60.6% were between 20 and 44 years old. Excoriations, pain and injury predominated. There were no associations between state violence in the diagnosis and the characteristics of patients and visits (schedule, routing, gender, age). The conclusion is that in most cases violence reported in the history of the consultation was not mentioned in the diagnosis of injuries. The characteristics of care and patients were not related to the fact that professionals diagnosed the case as violence.

A compreensão da epidemia do HIV e da AIDS em suas diferentes dimensões socioeconômica, cultural, biológica e política entre outras, representa um grande desafio para a Saúde Pública no Brasil e no mundo, desde o seu surgimento a cerca de duas décadas. Tanto na magnitude da propagação do HIV quanto na mortalidade por AIDS, reflete-se a crescente desigualdade entre países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento. Na medida em que se acentuam as diferenças de acesso ao tratamento, diminui a mortalidade por AIDS nos países mais ricos e aumenta nos países mais pobres, exceção feita ao Brasil, um dos poucos países que adotaram a política de distribuição gratuita de anti-retrovirais. Segue, no desenvolvimento deste trabalho, a análise do perfil epidemiológico da doença no município de Campinas-SP de acordo com a evolução do tratamento disponibilizado pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), utilizando o método de Regressão Logística segundo variáveis consideradas relevantes para o estudo e com base em parâmetros estimados a partir dessas variáveis

During the pregnancy process, the maternal organism commonly undergoes changes. Such changes follow the normal course of pregnancy; however, some maternal or fetal factors can interfere with pregnancy and adversely affect its outcomes, thus triggering what is referred to as high-risk pregnancy, which is responsible for increasing maternal, fetal or newborns’ morbimortality rates1,2. One of the obstetric alternatives for a safe resolution of this pregnancy type is the caesarean section. Nevertheless, an expressive increase in the number of caesarean sections has been observed worldwide, and they are, many times, unnecessarily indicated8. The world Health Organization (WHO) recommends that the total number of caesarean sections in relation to the total number of deliveries performed at health service should be a maximum of 15% 11, a limit that is easily surpassed in various services. To outline the epidemiological profile of pregnant women submitted to caesarean sections at a reference health care service in the city of Botucatu-SP. This is a cross-sectional, retrospective, exploratory, descriptive, quantitative study. The target population consisted of one hundred pregnant women assisted in this institution, who had been submitted to caesarean sections in 2010 and were randomly selected to compose the sample. In the analyzed period, there were 1,189 deliveries, of which 601 (50.5%) were natural deliveries, 588 (49.4%) were caesarean sections. As regards maternal age, 76% were in the age range of 19 to 36 years. A high percentage of patients (27%) had not completed elementary education and did not have a paid job; 67% were homemakers. Most of the participants were married (56%); 34% of the women were primiparas, but 19% were in their fourth or more pregnancies. The searches for a health service it’s a part of a process, searches for a qualified evaluation can arise the perception, in form of irritating factors taking for an alert state. The personal expectation, it makes influence in its perceptions, too. The objective was to evaluate the satisfaction degree of the users of “Seção Técnica de Ambulatório Geral do Hospital das Clínicas de Botucatu”. The work is about a quantitative and transversal study, with calculated sample of 366 users, chosen randomly and invited to participate through a questionnaire. The population was compounded by a majority of women (64,5%), between 50 to 59 years old and average degree of education (38,3%). 25 specialties were cited. The evaluate about comfort, cleaning, reception, waiting time, medical attention and nursing vary between “very good” and “good”. Obtained significant “regular” assessment, the comfort in the waiting rooms (24%), silence (25%) and cleaning bathroom (63%). Others negative evaluation was the reception about the waiting time (26%), waiting time between arrival and the consultation (34%), waiting time between the request and consultation (27%). 30,6% report to know the place for complaints and 79,4% of these pointed to the ombudsman. 62% consider their problems solved, 84,4% would indicate the hospital, 57,4% would consider the hospital better than imagined. 42,62% used the opened area for thanking, critical for staff, suggestion infrastructure improvements, cleaning and waiting time. The biggest complaint was the staff turnover in the treatment. There was disharmony between the objective and subjective questions, but, all of them must be considered to propose improvements. The satisfaction evaluation makes the service more effective, bringing credibility to the health service and the patients adhere better to the treatment
